Staff Accountant

Georgia Public Web, Inc., an Atlanta based broadband and technology solutions company, seeks an experienced Staff Accountant.

This position is responsible for maintaining and providing financial information, to include month-end closing tasks, assisting with audits, tax filing and preparing reports (financial and government) as well as other general financial duties.

Responsibilities: Maintains FAS software (fixed assets/depreciation) Oversees month-end and year-end closing reconciliations and annual audits Initiates, presents initial budget planning Assists with Accounts Receivables (monthly billings, cash receipts, customer collections, customer account reconciliations and all matter pertaining to AR) Assists with Accounts Payables (data entry, vendor payments, vendor account reconciliations, purchase order maintenance and all matters pertaining to AP) Establishes company forecasts Prepares various telecommunication compliance reporting Prepares necessary annual reports to federal/state agencies Assists finance group with financial reporting on a monthly and annual basis Responds to inquiries from regulatory agencies Submits reports into regulatory agencies for reimbursements Back up and assist with timesheet processing Assist senior management upon request Assistance with miscellaneous projects within the department, as needed Prepares reports, as necessary, to carry out functions of department; prepares periodic reports to upper management, as necessary or requested Must represent GPW in an honest, ethical, and professional manner at all times Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of accounting practices and concepts Knowledge of preferred business practices Knowledge of internal control processes Knowledge of manual and automated accounting application systems to supply the most accurate financial information Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – particularly Excel and Word High energy level, comfortable performing and prioritizing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities Excellent interpersonal skills.

Ability to get along with diverse personalities Advocate of team concept and participation Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment Ability to be resourceful and decisive while being able to recognize and support management’s preferences and priorities Results, service and people oriented while assertive/persuasive Must have good organizational skills with attention to detail Must be able to read printed documentation and computer screens Excellent oral and written English communication skills Must be able to operate standard office machinery such as personal computers/laptops, copiers, fax machines, and telephones Must be able to operate an automobile and perform periodic auto travel Education/Experience: BS/BA degree (preferably in Finance, Business Management, or similar field) and a minimum of two years related experience, or a minimum of three to five years related experience.

Experience with Sage 100 Advanced (or other Sage accounting products) highly desired.

Experience with broadband and/or telecommunications a plus.

Physical Standards: General office demands Must be able to sit for extended periods of time Must be able to lift 15 lbs.
