Senior Financial Analyst

We are hiring a Senior Financial Analyst to support all financial aspects relating to marketing efforts, working closely with senior marketing and finance leadership to evaluate, analyze, report, and draw insights on all aspects of marketing tests, promotions, coupons, and product mix. This position will report to the Director of Strategic Planning and Marketing Analytics.
This position can be fully remote or optionally can work from our corporate office in Tampa, Florida, with the ability to travel up to four times per year to our headquarters or to our restaurants or hotels for meetings and conferences and in-person activities.
Position Accountabilities

  • Analyzes marketing strategies
    • Marketing tests, promotions
      • Partners with marketing team to offer financial perspective on all marketing activity, helping to guide the organization to the most optimal decisions. Includes impacts to both sales and food cost.
      • Performs “test and learn” analysis (change in test group vs. the control group, post-period vs. the pre-period) to understand incremental impacts of activity to sales and/or margin.
      • Provides proactive and timely Excel or dashboard-related analysis on all key metrics with a focus on results, insights, and observations.
      • Summarizes results of all activity to company leadership team, drawing insights and recommendations as appropriate.
    • Coupon/Pricing activity
      • Works closely with the marketing team, recommends markets and timing to achieve desired goals.
      • Tracks and reports coupon redemption/impact from price changes at the restaurant level.
      • Reports weekly results against goals, highlighting variances and rationale/insights.
    • Special initiatives
      • Partners with marketing to understand performance of new and/or evolving ecommerce and loyalty initiatives and enhanced media strategies.
  • Menu Changes/Product Mix Analysis
    • Contributes to sales and food cost forecasts by projecting sales mix by product by event.
    • Highlights shifts in product mix and identifies contributing factors. Makes recommendations to marketing to optimize mix considering food costs.
    • Deconstruct check components to provide insights on customer purchasing behavior and patterns to highlight marketing and menu opportunities.
    • Create reports and dashboards to effectively communicate product mix and check insights at various levels of the restaurant and product hierarchy.
  • Reporting
    • Updates leadership daily/weekly on sales results. Understands weather, macroeconomic, mix, and other year-over-year impacts on sales comp. Will document insights through Power BI dashboards, Excel schedules, and Powerpoint slides.
    • Create schedules and dashboards around performance vs. plan, forecast, and prior year for executive discussions, marketing meetings, period-end decks, and Board presentations.

Secondary Accountabilities

  • Partners with field marketing team to provide Franchisee support as necessary.
  • Serves as back-up for Director, Marketing Analytics and Finance Manager(s) as necessary.
  • Serves on cross-functional projects/teams as needed
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Required Qualifications

  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think independently, take corrective action, and resolve inquiries and requests for information.
  • Strong technical capabilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Experience/proficiency with SQL databases.
  • Experience with PowerBI, Tableau, or other visualization tools.
  • Understands “test and learn” mentality. Familiarity with APT tool a plus.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage others and establish rapport.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with all levels within the organization, and with guests, franchisees, and suppliers.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities, meet demanding deadlines, adjust to sudden changes in workflow, and maintain high quality standards with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders and peers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain robust processes relied upon by senior management.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and propose creative solutions.
  • Ability to maintain all job-related information in a confidential and private manner.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or analytical field (Mathematics, Statistics, etc.). MBA preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Experience in QSR, Restaurant, or Retail industries preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office suite.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret written information such as procedure manuals, Company communications or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to Travel may be required to attend off-site training, meetings, and seminars.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods in one location which may be restricted to the employee’s workstation.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
