Senior Tax Accountant

nn Senior Accountants perform most work assigned with a minimum of assistance.

They often lead one or more assistants, instruct them in work to be performed, review the work done, and direct necessary revisions.

Seniors are required to make decisions on all but the most complex accounting and auditing matters.

• Prepares federal and state and multi-state returns for partnerships, C-corporations, S-corporations, non-profit, trust and estate, and individuals and performs in-depth research.

• Responsible for tax compliance and client management to include direct client contact.

nn nn
• Assist clients with IRS audits, responses to tax notices or other returns.

nn nn
• Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and Firm standards.

nn nn
• Meets time constraints and client deadlines.

nn nn
• Suggests client tax planning ideas to supervisor, manager, or Partner.

nn nn
• Proactively takes ownership of projects, seeing them through to ultimate completion & delivery to client.

nn nn
• Prepares other reports, projects and duties as may be assigned.

nn nn
• Begins to develop referral sources, which may include involvement in community, business and professional organizations.

nn nn Required Skills: nn nn
• BS/BA accounting preferred nn nn
• MST and CPA preferred nn nn
• Minimum 3-5 years tax experience in a public accounting firm nn nn
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships nn nn
• Ability to organize work and projects, prioritize and meet deadlines, and to complete work in an efficient and accurate manner.

• Strong tax research and writing skills nn nn
• Proven technical skills with MS Office to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook nn nn
• Competence with tax compliance and research software to include CCH nn nn
• Solid project management and organizational skills nn nn
• Proficient in Lacerte, Quickbooks, Quickbooks Online as well as other accounting software nn nn
• Strong leadership skills nn nn Minimum Qualifications: nn nn
• At least three (3) years’ experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity of tax knowledge nn nn
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field nn nn
• Either hold a current and valid CPA’s license, or be working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the applicable state CPA exam nn n n Job Requirements: n Use tax returns and property tax returns Preparing income tax returns, tax provisions Use tax, accounting, tax returns Assist with tax files/tax returns with external tax consultants Preparing federal tax returns, state/local tax returns and estimated payments Assisting in preparation of sales tax returns, income tax returns and state franchise returns Review federal and state income tax returns Prepare quarterly tax estimates, annual tax provision and annual tax returns Reconcile accounting for sales tax, income tax, franchise tax and property tax Use tax and property tax audits Coordinate federal and state tax returns Complete state and federal tax returns Prepare personal property tax returns Prepare federal tax returns and various state returns including franchise tax returns and annual reports File all property tax returns Prepare income and franchise tax returns Decide best tax strategies when preparing tax returns Prepare state income tax returns for review Prepare the tax work-papers for tax returns preparation Preparing property/entity tax returns
