Senior Property Accountant (SSDH2)

Addison Group Los Angeles, in partnership with our Commercial and Residential Real Estate-oriented West L.A. based client, seeks a Senior Property Accountant on a direct hire basis.

Job Description – The hired Senior Property Accountant will perform day-to-day accounting tasks and assist in the M/E closing process. You will also provide all information necessary for timely financial reporting. You will report to the Director of Accounting and Finance.

Job Site Status (Remote/Mixed/Onsite) – Our client has an onsite work schedule.

Compensation/Benefits – Salary range is $80,000-$100,000/year. Our client supplements base compensation with standard benefits and a bonus.

SENIOR PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT DUTIES

General Ledger (G/L) Accounting

  • Perform all G/L full cycle accounting functions (A/P, A/R, Payroll, Bank Reconciliations, Journal Entries, audit) for all corporate entities
  • Prepare intercompany expenses
  • Record reimbursements
  • Prepare month-end accruals
  • Reconcile balance sheet and bank accounts monthly
  • Assist in closing the books monthly

Property Accounting

  • Calculate monthly and quarterly asset management and construction management fees
  • Assist with lease capitalization journal entries and reconciliations
  • Invoice rents
  • Reconcile tenant ending balances with the assistance of on-site manager to spot discrepancies
  • Contact managers of all tenant delinquencies

Cash Management

  • Monitor cash balances
  • Open new bank accounts
  • Track wire transfers

Miscellaneous Accounting Tasks

  • Supervise and manage a property accountant
  • Help audit the balance sheet
  • Assist the Finance department in budgeting and forecasting projects by providing any necessary information
  • Assist in all external and internal audits
  • Suggest any accounting improvements to Accounting processes and procedures
  • Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements
  • Accept any other ad-hoc tasks

SENIOR PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Business Administration or equivalent work experience
  • At least three (3) years of property accounting experience in a real estate company

Preferred

  • A CPA or CPA tracking
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

SENIOR PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT SKILLS

Technical

  • Intermediate-level Excel proficiency (v-lookups, pivot tables, IF formulas, et. al)
  • Yardi
