Senior Manager, Accounting

Physical Optics Corporation (POC), a Mercury Company, specializes in secure mission-critical technology for the military and defense.

We are seeking an experienced manager to assume the role of Senior Manager, Accounting.

This position will be based in Torrance, CA. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified applicants.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to:

Serve in the lead accounting role for a $120M subsidiary of Mercury Systems.

You are responsible for:
Oversight of the Torrance Business Unit financial close process, ensuring it is completed timely and accurately for corporate consolidation and SEC reporting purposes.

Serving as the lead technical accounting resource for the Torrance Business Unit; with the support of corporate, responsible for documenting and reviewing technical accounting assessments for management and auditors Implement and oversee an effective internal controls environment as outlined by Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 in partnership with internal audit Evaluation and management of organization, selection, performance management, coaching, and development of direct reports and the accounting staff Serve as the primary liaison to Corporate Accounting, responsible for ensuring a close working relationship in support of monthly financial statement preparation and execution of quarterly reviews and annual audits of financial statements Lead and/or participate in business systems integration efforts Manage day-to-day Torrance Business Unit accounting operations including the AP, Payroll, and General Accounting teams Implementation of Corporate Accounting initiatives at the Torrance Business Unit

Responsibility Statement: The role of the Senior Manager, Accounting at our Torrance subsidiary will the successful transition of the accounting processes of this formerly privately held business to a large subsidiary of a publicly held organization.

This role will be responsible for the oversight of the monthly and quarterly close processes, timely and accurate corporate reporting, application of technical accounting under US GAAP and the supervision of the Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 compliance.

This position will serve as the primary intermediary between Torrance business management and corporate accounting based in Andover, MA.

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting; active CPA license preferred

Work Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience, including 3+ years public accounting firm, and must have a working knowledge of SEC regulations and reporting as well as Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements.
