JOB SUMMARY
Texas/Mountain West Region Residential Transactions lead responsible for the sourcing of residential investment opportunities and supporting the firm’s growth into emerging residential sectors (i.e. SFR, student and age-restricted communities). The position will report directly to Head of Residential. The candidate will prepare, recommend, and implement a portfolio-wide investment strategy and will lead transactions ranging from opportunistic to core real estate strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with Head of Residential, Research, Asset Management and Portfolio Management to develop and implement investment plans with an understanding of each client’s strategic goals.
Responsible for developing and managing industry relationships with key intermediaries, owners and other market participants. Would be one of the firm’s primary representatives at regional/national industry events.
Source on and off-market transactions and negotiate the best business terms and conditions for residential real estate transactions for a wide variety of client investment programs.
Oversee all aspects of the acquisition process including contract negotiation, due diligence, and transaction closing.
Lead presenter to Investment Committee with support from the transaction and portfolio management teams.
Reviews, contributes to and creates a large variety of analyses and relevant documents, including but not limited to: transaction screening summaries, investment committee materials, joint-venture documents, letters of intent, purchase and sale agreements and ad hoc investor requests.
Prepares and delivers effective presentations to relevant parties.
Operates well in a team environment with multiple stakeholders and effectively manages and mentors junior team members.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides general support to the broader Americas team which can include assistance, oversight and/or training to coworkers. Lead project teams and supervise assignments of junior acquisition team members.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university. 10+ years of related experience and/or training and proven track-record of closing relevant transactions.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Excellent oral and written communications skills. Collaborates well in a team environment. Sensitive to clients needs and can develop positive relationships.
FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and metrics. Ability to review budgets and develop pro forma operating assumptions.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve problems in complex situations. Requires strong analytical and quantitative skills to develop strategic solutions. Draws upon the investigations of others and makes recommendations.
OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) Salesforce, and relevant industry databases/research providers.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to travel to regional markets.
