Senior Corporate Accountant

Position Summary
Reporting to the company’s Controller, the successful candidate will perform a variety of accounting, reporting, and financial analyses. The successful candidate will possess a strong grasp of GAAP, and a thorough knowledge of basic accounting and control procedures. We are seeking a hands‐on, highly-motivated individual possessing above‐average organizational and communication skills. A high sense of integrity and determination is paramount in ensuring long‐term success in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively participate and lead the monthly financial closing processes;
  • Prepare financial reports and analyze month‐end, quarter‐end, and year‐end results;
  • Prepare month‐end journal entries (e.g., accruals and adjustments);
  • Run the month‐end consolidation;
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts;
  • Complete special projects, utilizing the analytical and reporting tools available in the company’s ERP system (Deltek);
  • Perform project accounting functions (cost accumulation and analysis; reviewing ETCs; billing; monitoring A/R; reviewing invoices from sub‐consultants; etc.) for certain architectural and design projects, as needed;
  • Play a significant role in the annual audit (working with the independent CPAs; preparing audit schedules; gathering documentation; researching issues in order to answer questions);
  • Responsible for the company’s credit card program;
  • Assist in the preparation of miscellaneous tax packages (i.e., 1099s); and,
  • Perform such other accounting or administrative tasks as may be required from time to.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting;
  • Must be highly skilled in use of Excel spreadsheets (i.e., use of macros, pivot tables, etc.), MSWord, and MS‐Office;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines (including willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done);
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the Accounting & Finance Team;
  • Five to seven years of experience in accounting demonstrating increasing responsibility;
  • Experience with Deltek Vision (or other comparable accounting system);
  • A “can do” attitude is a must.
