IRG, a nationwide real estate development and investment firm specializing in the acquisition, development, and management of commercial and industrial real estate throughout the United States is seeking to hire a Senior Accountant to join our growing company in West Los Angeles, CA. The Senior Accountant will assist the Controller by performing and coordinating accounting duties of this privately-held national real estate development and investment firm. He/she will be a key point of contact with the company’s finance and accounting staff of its wholly-owned property management company that manages more than 150 properties in 28 states with over 100 million square feet of rentable space.Essential Functions:Oversee all the activities of the corporate accounting department including:• Maintains the general ledger, performs general accounting and month-end close duties of the corporate entities.• Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.• Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.• Verifies and completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable in a timely manner and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.• Assists with preparing accurate and timely monthly financial statements, cash flow reports, annual budgets, forecasts, and review of quarterly property-level financial results• Assists with the processes for financial forecasting, budgeting, and consolidation reporting and identifying and explaining significant budget variances to management.• Assists with the annual review and preparation of fair market valuation summaries.• Assists with preparation of lender reporting packages on a monthly and quarterly basis• Prepares payments for partner distributions and helps the financial team with various capital raising activities, reporting and compliance• Provide information for and take part in Q&A for audits, tax preparation and appraisals.Required Competencies:• A passion to create useful, concise, informative financial reports• Be detail-oriented and highly organized• Experience with GAAP reporting• Flexible, strategic team player with high integrity and ethical standards• The candidate should have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and be able to thrive in a demanding environment.• Technical capacity – Proficient with Excel and experience with real estate general ledger software accounting systems (MRI preferred).• Familiarity with Argus software (helpful)Required education and work experiences:• BA/BS in accounting, business, or finance• 3-5 years experience in the commercial real estate industry• CPA (preferred)• Experience in both the private and public accounting sectors is preferred but not required
