Real Estate – Corporate Controller

A thriving boutique real estate investment firm in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to manage the company’s finance and accounting department.

This role offers a unique opportunity to oversee daily asset management accounting of their robust commercial and multi-family portfolio.

The Controller provides overall guidance to a lean group of CRE professionals and will be tasked with building out the accounting department as their portfolio grows.

The Controller is responsible for financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting.

Superior analytical skills are crucial to this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables such as journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP Successfully collaborate with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, controls and provide support and strategic guidance on special requests when necessary Handle wire transfers and investor distributions Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures Facilitate end of year tax preparations with CPA Manage Third-Party Property Management vendors and handle monthly financial reviews Handle monthly bank reconciliations, CAM reconciliations, 1099s Administration of acquisition financing assistance, loan maturities, insurance compliance and extensions Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls Manage monthly investor reporting and maintain the company’s “Investment Management” portal Must be comfortable with handling full cycle accounting for primary corporate office along with payroll administration and benefits administration

QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in Accounting (Masters preferred), Finance or other relevant field of study CPA preferred Minimum 8+ years of related experience within CRE including multi-family and commercial properties Yardi experience Experience managing a team Highly collaborative with excellent interpersonal skills Desire to work within a team while working autonomously Superior communication and correspondence skills
