Marquee’s current portfolio consists of 12 brands spanning women’s fashion, men’s fashion, sports and outdoor, home and maternity and includes some of the most well-known names in each space, such as Martha Stewart, Sur La Table, Motherhood Maternity, BCBG Max Azria, Ben Sherman and Dakine.Marquee is looking for an Associate to join the investment team and contribute to all aspects of the brand acquisition process in addition to working directly with the Marquee’s operational team on business development and high priority strategic initiatives. The ideal candidates will have a deep passion for consumer brands and be eager to hone their investment analysis and transaction execution abilities. The ability to think analytically is a must but the ability to think creatively is also highly valued and no voice or idea is too small to be heard. This will be a highly dynamic role, where the Associate may be modeling investment projection scenarios one day and negotiating eCommerce pricing with product vendors the next. Associates should expect to gain a substantial amount of both investment and operations experience. In addition, while Marquee sits within Neuberger Berman and has access to the vast research and investment resources of a global investment platform, the core Marquee investment team is small and tight-knit and Associates will receive significant direct interaction with senior investment team leaders. Finally, the Neuberger Berman Private Equity platform is a highly entrepreneurial environment where employees are often empowered to think outside the box and develop new investment strategies. Associates at Marquee will have the opportunity to participate and contribute to this new product creation.Responsibilities:* Analyzing and conducting comprehensive due diligence on potential brand investments across various sectors of the consumer brand landscape* Performing in-depth analysis and market research on different sectors of consumer branded products* Financial modeling, scenario analysis and returns analysis on potential brand investment opportunities* Preparation of due diligence materials, analysis and investment committee memos* Assistance in drafting of acquisition documents (term sheets, asset purchase agreements, license agreements, etc.)* Ongoing monitoring of existing brand investments* Supporting the operations team on high-priority strategic initiatives and new business development* Preparing fundraising materials and assisting with existing client requests* Conducting special projects including development of new investment products and strategiesQualifications:* Must have excellent academic credentials (both undergraduate school and GPA)* Must have 1-4 years of top-tier investment banking program experience* Ideally will have prior experience with consumer companies, but not a must* Must be have exceptional quantitative and financial modeling skills* Must have strong judgment, critical thinking and written skills; ability to articulate and present ideas effectively both orally and in written form* Must show initiative and creativity in approach to problem solving; demonstrated experience in conducting research and interacting with others to develop solutions* Must have ability to multi-task with a fine-tuned attention to detail* Must have team-player attitude and a desire to work on a wide range of projects* Must be highly organized and capable of managing multiple internal and external work streams concurrently* Open to positions in New York and LANeuberger Berman is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
