Goodwill SoCal is looking for an accountant to join our team! The Accountant – Cash Management supports cash management areas involving all receivables, retail sales reporting, bank reconciliation, cash flow, investment reporting, and other general ledger, budgeting and financial statement preparation. This position also serves as the back-up to the Accounts Receivable and Cash Management Manager. Per government requirements, this role required to be fully COVID-19 vaccinated.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists in overseeing the sales control desk and Retail Store areas; Communicates and trains staff and other departments on cash management processes
  • Assists in preparing all journal entries that pertain to cash management area and updates for month closing.
  • Processes invoices and cash receipts for all areas. Checks, updates, and generates the invoice registers.
  • Records sales from all areas including: Contract Services, Salvages, Post Retail Sales, and records. Prepares and records all necessary debit memos and credit memos into Accounts Receivable.
  • Follows up on collections for all outstanding and past‐due accounts.
  • Performs reconciliations of billing from all departments; Reconciles Daily Cash Report, Accounts Receivable Aging Report, and Open Items Report with General Ledger.
  • Performs unclaimed property for A/P & Payroll accounts.
  • Posts all payments related to accounts receivable billings into Financial Edge Accounts Receivable system with accuracy and in timely manner. Records all non A/R related payment activities into General Ledger based on copies of deposit slips, ACH debits and credits.
  • Records NISH fee accruals monthly basis and submits any payment request related to customer refunds and NISH fees to Accounts Payable.
  • Generates Daily Cash Report with available cash projection and forwards to an immediate Manager for review, and distributes it weekly to VP of Finance and Controller.

Education & Experience

  • 4+ years of accounting and business administration experience. Non-profit experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Accounting software, Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software and POS software.
  • Strong skills using MS Office products, primarily with Excel
  • Must be detailed oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Self-starter, must able to meet deadlines.
  • Understands the basic philosophy of Goodwill and participates fully in carrying out its mission.
