Location: Los Angeles, CA (Currently remote; hybrid in the future)

OVERVIEW:
The company in the entertainment business is looking for an experienced Japanese Bilingual Controller. The controller is responsible for direct accounting operational functions, financial reporting and internal control systems. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT ARE LIMITED TO:
•            Manage the monthly close process including preparation and review of the journal entries and reconciliations. 
•            Perform day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, payroll, treasury management and general ledger.   
•            Prepare and forecast revenue schedules and royalty structures for internal and external parties; review contracts to identify revenue schedule periods, royalty rate thresholds, tax and liability risks; reconcile to deferred revenue, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
•            Assist with the preparation and completion of the fiscal year budgeting process, evaluate business unit performance against budget, and develop forecasts/reforecasts for financial performance projections.
•            Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
•            Involve in the preparation of monthly management financial reporting packages, including variance analysis, as well as periodic board reporting materials; report key operational data to the leadership teams.
•            Coordinate the preparation of annual financial audit process.
•            Work closely with the CFO to develop and implement internal controls; maintain and improve accounting and financial policies, processes and procedures.
•            Oversee and handle the regulatory filings, tax compliance and reporting, including payroll, property, sales and use tax compliance and reporting.
•            Other duties and special projects requested by the CFO, other C-suit members or board members. 
QUALIFICATIONS:
•            Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
•            3+ years of experience in a public accounting field, and 3+ years at an operation company as a management of accounting and financial teams
•            Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license.
•            Bilingual Japanese and English (reading, writing and speaking)
