Financial Analyst

Title: Financial Analyst Office: Los Angeles Reports to: Associate Finance Director Reporting to the Associate Finance Director, the Financial Analyst will apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and to prepare accurate and timely financial reports. The right person for this role has experience in P&L analysis, monthly and quarterly fiscal close process, and the workings of the general ledger. This role is hands-on and will assist with the financial reporting that connects MAL to the TBWAWorldwide network. Additionally, the role will assist with the internal reporting of our overhead budgets. The Financial Analyst must have strong communication skills and experience working in cross-functional environments, as the workflow involves constant collaboration across various teams. The right person for this opportunity will be able to take initiative and juggle multiple projects, while identifying and solving problems. Responsibilities: Assist with the monthly financial close process; including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for key GL accounts, completing corporate monthly reporting submissions, and preparing a variance-to-plan analysis of the P&L to communicate actuals and deliverables to our CFO and Finance Director. Analyze the general ledger and department budgets with the network finance team to identify necessary accruals for: revenue, overhead expenses, and payroll. Assist to ensure compliance with processes and key documents in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley and GAAP. Collaborate with inter-department liaisons to oversee the updates to the monthly department budgets and internal agency projects, and add the updated budgets into our financial plan. Assist with the payroll actualization and tracking of freelance expenses. Collaborate with TBWA Finance to analyze and accrue costs shared across the TBWA network. Collaborate with our international offices to clear intercompany receivable balances and prepare intercompany billings related to upfront expenses and global fees. Collaborate with wider finance team in ad-hoc financial analysis as needed by the business or the team. Assist with internal and external audit requests. Requirements: 1 to 2 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred Highly proficient in Excel and proven track record of financial analysis Must be able to work with highly confidential information Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects and a demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems Experience working with financial and accounting enterprise systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics AX, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), or other similar systems Strong teamwork and communication skills
