DIRECTOR, PRODUCTION FINANCE

The Position:

The Director, Production Finance plays a critically important role partnering with the Production and Finance team from show set up to wrap.

Responsibilities:

•Work with Production, Legal and Business Affairs, People Resources , and the Finance departments to effectively manage the financial operations, including cash flow projections and cost reporting for assigned productions.

•Coordinate show budgeting process and production accounting processes from prep until turnover. 

•Assess strategic allocation of funds while analyzing production submissions and evaluate which productions are most cost efficient.

•Manage the set up of show accounting system using appropriate payroll software. 

•Implement uniform reporting requirements, standard accounting procedures, oversee daily/ weekly show cost reporting. 

•Coordinate and implement tax, labor and sourcing policies and objectives.

•Manage production cash flow and support the weekly and quarterly corporate financial accounting and corporate cash management process. 

•Implement and ensure uniform budget policies. 

•Key financial management liaison between production executives, show accountants, show producers and the greater finance organization. 

•Oversee the budgeting, pacing and closing processes of the projects for pilots, series and other production projects.

•Review cash flow schedules and funding requests in accordance with deals and schedules.

•Research and track available tax incentives, residuals and royalties and prepare ad-hoc analysis or reporting as needed.

Requirements

Key Requirements:

•Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in finance, accounting or a related field. 

•Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience accounting for productions within a studio, network, branded agency, production company (digital, commercial, TV, film)

•Experience with preparation of television series show budgets and estimates.

•Experience working with third-party production payroll companies.

•Broad experience with various TV genres.

•Familiarization with state production tax incentive programs.

•Working knowledge of industry union and guild agreements

•Proficient in Excel.

•Demonstrated ability to deliver while working under time pressure on multiple assignments, and to adapt and work well in a rapidly changing environment.

•Strong attention to detail, highly organized, pro-active, and high adaptability.

•Must exhibit the highest personal and professional integrity and ethics.

•Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
