The Director will be part of a global Business Risk Management (BRM) team that conducts operational due diligence reviews of investment managers across all asset classes.
This position is based in Boston and will have responsibility for supporting BRM’s operational due diligence priorities in the US.
Responsibilities: Conduct operational due diligence on traditional, hedge fund and private investment managers.
Manage workflow of both initial and on-going reviews of managers based primarily in the US.
Core responsibilities include: developing due diligence plans, reviews of managers’ documented procedures, conducting on-site operational reviews and interviews, , and preparing written analysis of managers’ business and operational capabilities, strengths and weaknesses.
Monitor on-going operational developments at investment manager firms and contribute to the overall manager evaluation process.
Conduct assessments of industry providers including administrators, compliance consultants, systems, accountants, law firms, prime brokers; Maintain network of local industry experts.
Participate in investment research manager meetings, industry conferences and events.
Serve as a resource for Investment Directors and clients on regulatory or other industry issues and operations best practices Qualifications: Minimum 5 years’ experience with direct ODD experience preferred.
Demonstrated management and direct operational due diligence preferred; Demonstrated work experience within prime brokerage or fund services environment or within an audit firm auditing investment products (hedge funds, mutual funds, private equity or venture capital).
Ability to independently lead meetings with investment manager’s key non-investment personnel(COO, CFO, CCO, etc).
Knowledge of investment fund operations and risk management practices Knowledge of various investment fund structures, fund domiciles and fund strategies.
Ability to mentor and support team members including junior ODD analysts/associates.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to coordinate projects and facilitate information flow across different functional areas in a timely manner.
Strong analytical skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a team.
Ability to work in hybrid work arrangement with expectations to be in office 2-3 days/week.
Accountancy qualification, MBA/Masters or CAIA/CFA preferred.
Willingness to travel.
