Position Description:
The UCLA Library is excited to welcome applications and nominationsfor the position of Director of Organizational Culture, Equity,Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) for the UCLA Library.
The newly established position of Director of OrganizationalCulture, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion leads the development ofnew policies and practices to build, sustain, and further a cultureof empathy, transparency, collaboration, and conversation. Withstrong support from the Library’s senior leadership and across theUCLA Library, the Director will position EDI and community-buildingin the Library’s culture, and will provide leadership foranti-racism efforts that span all aspects of the library. Thisposition leads the Library’s strategic priorities to transform itsculture into one that centers community-building, equity,diversity, and respect in order to empower all staff to contributeeffectively and meaningfully.
The Director is responsible for organizational and programmaticinitiatives through the development of policies and procedures incollaboration with the Library’s Anti-Racism Initiative, LibraryEDI Committee, and two Library Equity Advisors. This position willsupervise one FTE. The Director will lead and coordinate efforts tocollect and utilize data, including demographic data, to informactions and policies. The Director will work collaboratively withLibrary Human Resources, UCLA’s Civil Rights Office, administrationand managers to address issues of racism, sexism, and inequities inUCLA Library practices including recruitment, retention, equitablecompensation, and professional development and training. TheDirector will work closely with Library Human Resources, LibraryCommunications and Marketing, and Library Development to expand andrefine strategies to promote and advance EDI. The Director willlead UCLA Library accessibility efforts and will strategize withcampus partners in the Office of Students with Disabilities, UCLADisabilities Computing, and other stakeholders.
The Director will contribute expert knowledge and skills to advanceEDI and collaborate with a vibrant and supportive community of EDIand anti-racism practitioners, equity advisors and other relevantpositions at UCLA and in regional, statewide and nationalorganizations in order to build a culture of inclusion andinnovation.
The UCLA Library is a campus-wide network of libraries serving thefull range of teaching and research activities at UCLA. Itscollections encompass more than twelve million volumes as well asarchives, audiovisual materials, corporate reports, governmentpublications, manuscripts, maps, microforms, oral histories,photographs, technical reports, and other scholarly resources. TheLibrary also provides access to an extensive collection of digitalresources including reference works, electronic journals, otherfull-text titles, and moving and still images.
