You are a team player who shows energy and persistence.The Cost Accounting Manager role reports directly to the Corporate Controller.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Cost Accounting Manager will help coordinate key accounting activities across the company’s business segments. The incumbent will be a key partner with Corporate Accounting, Operations, and Supply Chain to help drive the continued success of the company. This role will also help explain cost trends, manufacturing variances, produce actionable insights, and help optimize cost performance through expertise in cost drivers.Key Areas of Accountability* Leads all aspects of all coordinating the planning, reporting, and analysis of Standard Product Costing, Manufacturing Variances, Inventory, and its component parts.* Assists senior management teams in understanding costs, variances, and other operating measures, including product/SKU level margins through key strategic reports.* Recruits, develops and effectively manages a competent and engaged staff capable of exceeding assigned annual goals.* Supports employee development by investing time and resources for both formal and informal training and executes development plans/opportunities for the team.* Analyze and interpret daily cost variances to provide weekly snapshots to performance; provide plant and senior management recommended actions to maximize efficiency.* Perform inventory valuation according to company policy and ensure accuracy of inventory and variances from book to physical; analyze obsolete inventory ensuring appropriate direction and facilitation to reduce exposure.* Review manufacturing variances and work with operations teams to reduce these variances.* Provide accurate and timely inventory and costing reports to the operations teams to support the company’s continuous improvement approach.* Inventory adjustments* Participates in the annual budgeting process, including preparation of standard costs.* Drive the development of procedures and controls that ensure meaningful and reliable product costs and accurate inventories.* Support PPV process including planning and communications with the Supply Management team, monthly cash/incremental PPV/MOH forecasts, month-end reviews and flux analyses, journal entries and reporting* Interface with internal and external auditors, provide account analysis and variance explanations* Support the global business segments on setting up incremental PPV baseline and setting up standard raw material costs* Support process improvement projects, new legal entity implementations, business system process improvements E&O process and reporting, Contract Manufacturing activities and inventory reserves;* Support and participate in the key projects including activities associated with Capacity Expansion, Inventory Reduction Projects.* Support Kaizen events and cost improvement initiatives* Works with local process improvement teams to define resources, measures and tactics that contribute to achievement of company objectivesEducation and Experience Requirement* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business with an emphasis in finance required* At least 7 years’ experience in cost accounting – experience with in-house manufacturing highly preferred* Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is key to success in this role.* Robust internal controls understanding and documentation of all financial processes and transactions is attractive.Other Preferred Experiences* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Strong financial analysis and manufacturing experience, as well as verbal and written communication skills.* A strong communicator, with the ability to combine your understanding of the financial process with persuasiveness and confidence.* Proven track record of problem solving, contributing, and influencing across levels and functions – Analyses, Coordinates, executes and presents findings.* Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite including Excel analytical skillset* Excellent written and verbal communication skills* Accurate and precise attention to detail* Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently in fast paced environment* Ability to drive process improvements and sustainment with minimal supervision* Travel approx. 10%
