About The Role Hound Labs is seeking an experienced and driven Controller to join our dynamic and fast-paced start-up. Duties for the controller will include managing accounting records, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, publishing financial statements, overseeing accounting operations, analyzing financial data, monitoring expenditures, forecasting revenue, coordinating auditing and tax processes, and ensuring accuracy of financial information. LOCATION Austin, TX REPORTING TO Chief Financial Officer Responsibilities We are looking for a results-driven and confident controller to manage and improve our organization’s financial performance and direct our accounting operations. Duties for the controller will include managing accounting records, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, publishing financial statements, overseeing accounting operations, analyzing financial data, monitoring expenditure, forecasting revenue, coordinating auditing processes, and ensuring accuracy of financial information. Your exceptional numerical proficiency as a financial controller will aid our organization in maintaining positive revenue and financial growth, implementing proper internal controls, achieving organizational targets, and developing financial plans that support organizational strategy. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, a flair for numbers, be highly organized, and have excellent leadership skills. The noteworthy controller should streamline our accounting functions and operations, provide financial analysis and reports, train staff on business finance issues, promote regulatory compliance, and drive income generation. DUTIES Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition Coordinate and support the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting Research technical accounting issues for compliance Support month-end and year-end close process Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls Analyzing financial data Monitoring internal controls Overseeing and preparing income statements Participating in budgeting processes Supporting financial transactions Streamlining accounting functions and operations Developing plans for financial growth Evaluating and managing risk Coordinating audit processes General accounting oversight Additional controller duties as necessary Qualifications BS in Finance or Accounting 10 – 15 years of professional experience CPA preferred NetSuite knowledge Experience managing a group of accountants Bio Tech, Life Science, Healthcare Device experience is a plus Good communication skills Strong leadership qualities Excellent interpersonal skills Auditing experience Compliance oriented Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures Experience with creating financial statements Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process Excellent accounting software user and administration skills Proficiency in accounting software Analytical skills WHAT ELSE? ??
