The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, including overseeing the monthly close cycle, general ledger activity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and balance sheet control. A position that is critical to our promising future, our new Controller will be able to have great influence in building out and professionalizing the controls, reporting, and performance of the business. You are a visionary and cannot only see the big picture in terms of anticipating the leadership team’s needs 6-12 months down the road, but you can build the accounting and financial reporting functions to be ready to meet those needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who thrives in a busy workplace and is well-versed in working closely with senior management, is detail oriented, and hands-on. Responsible for monthly financial close including bank and other balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial statement accuracy. As a Controller, you’re responsible for controlling cost. This involves working with the President and the Head of Operations to develop policies and procedures, systems, processes, and metrics to make sure that costs are under control. Take ownership of corporate transaction processes that include accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, while working on the development and support the company’s strategic plans. Analyze business partnerships and make recommendations to Senior Management, including: Information Technology (IT), Legal, Supply Chain, and Procurement. Compile and analyze financial reporting packages. Prepare operating budgets in coordination with senior management. Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures. Communicate financial metrics to senior management, board of directors and outside constituents. Prepare quarterly board updates. Coordinate with tax advisors to quarterly and annual tax filings are timely and accurate Additional Preferred Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Finance and accounting with a CPA certification is a plus, but not required. Minimum 4 years accounting experience in a supervisory level accounting or financial management role. Experienced with P&Ls by department, balance sheet reconciliations, AP, AR, GL postings and control, inventory control/management. Advanced skills in MS Excel a must. Demonstrates knowledge of financial terminology, standards, principles and practices (GAAP). Demonstrates knowledge of FASB Accounting Standards codification. Experience dealing with senior lenders on covenants and compliance is a plus. Demonstrates knowledge of accounting theory, techniques, processes and procedures including accruals, obligations, reconciliations and revenue and expense recognition and can apply that knowledge to reflect accurate financial results of operations. E-commerce or Consumer Technology experience is a plus.
