Consultative Search Group: Senior Accountant

Publicly traded REIT seeks a Senior Accountant to join their Los Angeles team.

This is a hands-on role that will require detail involvement in US GAAP accounting and in the financial closing process.

The Senior Investment Accountant will provide the general day-to-day maintenance relating to the Loan and real estate portfolios general accounting practices, internal controls and financial analysis and reporting.This individual will play an important part in implementing ongoing procedural changes and automation initiatives in a fast-paced environment characterized by strict adherence to tight deadlines and dedication to quality control in all aspects of the process.Responsibilities:Prepare month-end close journal entries, trial balances and financials.Review and maintain the accounting function for loan portfolios, including real estate owned propertiesReview cash flows and assess quarterly impairments for loans and real estatePrepare and review monthly custodian reports and debt service requirementsPrepare accretion calculations, monthly accruals, monthly and quarterly reporting and cash projections.Prepare quarterly and annual stand-alone financial statements.Prepare supporting schedules and compile information for SEC reporting; assist with 10-K/10-Q tie outPrepare contribution, distribution, and loan drawCoordinate with internal and external auditorsCalculate capital calls and distributionsQualifications:3-5 years of progressive US GAAP accounting experienceCPA preferred and knowledgeable in US GAAP/historical cost accountingExperience in accounting for mortgage and/or commercial loan assets preferred; including interest accrualIntermediate understanding of financial modeling and concepts, including yields, DCF, cap rates, IRRs, etc.Proficiency in MS OfficePositive, ability to work effectively under pressureStrong analytical, operational, organizational and interpersonal aptitudeExcellent oral and written communication skillsMust be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong work ethic with the ability to work extended hours during critical periods and to meet project deadlines
