Associate Manager Accounting and Reporting

If so, Altria may be the place for you We are currently seeking a qualified Accounting and Reporting Associate Manager to join our team in Richmond, VA.During your career at Altria, you’ll get the opportunity to utilize and develop your skills by rotating across our Finance & Accounting departments based on your own individual development plan developed with your manager and mentors.In this role you will:
• Lead in performing quarterly accounting responsibilities and ongoing research related to technical accounting areas, which may include our equity investments.
• Support and lead partnerships with various internal organizations, including FP, Treasury, Strategy & Business Development and Investor Relations, as it relates to assigned projects or ongoing accounting area.
• Lead discussions with external and internal auditors, external specialists and other key external contacts.
• Lead presentations to management and the documentation of technical accounting topics.
• Support SEC Reporting team with required SEC filings by researching requirements, drafting financial disclosures and/or compiling support related to your area.
• Coordinate with our internal and external auditors on requests and accounting matters.
• Assist & coach junior Accounting & Reporting team members in their quarterly and annually general ledger closing responsibilities.
• Assist in review of accounting analyses & memorandums, quarterly financial statements, journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by junior analysts.
• Assist in the research of new accounting standards and implementation of necessary infrastructure, policies and disclosures while working with stakeholders across the enterprise and external auditors.We want you to have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required
• 5 years of work experience in Public Accounting, Corporate Accounting or Reporting, Corporate Audit or Financial Planning & Analysis
• Professional designation (CPA, CIA, CFA) or master’s degree
• Knowledge of accounting & reporting standards (US GAAP and SEC)Desired skills and abilities:
• Ability to demonstrate value to the business and other Finance organizations by providing accounting expertise to develop and make recommendations that produce results
• Displays sophisticated problem-solving skills and presents recommendations to management
• Capable of working independently and as part of a team comprised of diverse backgrounds across the entire Altria organization
• Challenges the status quo and brings new insights and manages process innovation and simplification
• Uses effective, concise verbal and written communication to present to appropriate audiences, document technical accounting positions and works to improve influencing skills
• Flexible and eager to work on different assignments throughout the department
