We are a rapidly growing company and we have an immediate opportunity at our Vancouver home office for a full-time Accounting Manager.

About Our Opportunity: The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing that all financial accounting reports for facilities managed by Hawthorn Senior Living and related business entities are prepared in an accurate and timely manner.

Key Job Functions:
· Responsible for ensuring that all financial statements and various accounting reports for facilities managed by Hawthorn Senior Living and related business entities are completed in an accurate and timely manner.

· Ensure compliance with stated rules, statutory regulations and policies and procedures.

· Ensure that all required special reporting schedules are accurately and completely maintained.

· Ensure that facility budgets and budget to actual variance reports are completed in a useful, accurate and timely manner.

· Ensure all tax package information is completed in a timely manner and coordinate delivery to tax accountant.

· Ensure that chart of accounts is accurate and completely assessed, established and maintained.

· Ensure that facility internal audit reviews are properly conducted.

· Constantly look for ways to improve the efficiency of the financial accounting systems.

· Serve as a resource person for facility senior accountants and other department managers.

· Ensure that new staff accountants are adequately trained.

· Prepare annual departmental budget making appropriate staffing recommendations.

· Perform all necessary supervisory tasks including hiring, terminating and conducting performance evaluations.

· Maintain a high degree of communication, cooperation, and coordination with team members.

Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required
· Minimum five years work experience in financial accounting showing progressively higher levels of responsibility is required
· Minimum two years experience in a supervisory position preferred
· Ability to provide leadership and perform supervisory duties including hiring, terminating, conducting job performance evaluations
· Possess a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Accounting Principles and current partnership tax law
· Ability to work under time constraints and establish, coordinate and meet departmental deadlines
· Demonstrated proficiency in organizational skills; establish and maintain departmental goals; identify areas of concerns and make appropriate recommendations to Controller
· Excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills
