Exponent has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Delay Expert within the Construction Consulting Practice to provide support to new and existing clients on contract, commercial, and dispute related engagements in the engineering and construction sectors.

We are looking to strengthen our delay analysis and planning department that focuses on claims and arbitrations relating to high value delay and disruption issues.

Exponent is currently involved in many high profile projects, and the role will offer exposure to an exciting variety of projects.

The suitable candidate will have demonstrable experience working as a planning claims consultant on major high value disputes, including expert witness testimony experience.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Undertaking and leading fee earning assignments with respect to live and retrospective planning and scheduling
  • Meeting with clients and client solicitors in connection with dispute related work
  • Preparing expert reports relating to project planning, scheduling, delay and related issues
  • Providing expert testimony on matters of project planning, scheduling, delay and related issues
  • Conducting planning audits and prepare recovery schedules for major projects
  • Pursuing or defending delay claims, including advising clients on commercial strategy, risks, and opportunities, and developing and writing claim particulars, including necessary factual research

You will have the following skills and qualifications: 

  • B.S.

    in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (Advanced degree(s) and registration is preferred)

  • 15+ years of experience in project/construction management or construction consulting
  • Knowledge of and experience with Primavera and/or Microsoft software tools as well as other software common to the construction industry
  • Experience in contract dispute resolution and construction claims, litigation services and construction consulting services is desired
  • Experience working as a planning claims consultant on major high value disputes, including expert witness testimony experience is desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
