Maintenance Mechanic

MAINTENANCE MECHANICAmvac’s Maintenance Mechanic installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs machinery, process equipment, utilities equipment, process & facility physical structures, motors, pumps, pipe & piping components within the plant.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESIdentifies hazards and protect you, other employees, and the facility from hazards when installing, maintaining, or repairing systemsComplies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as required by law and company policyDisassemble pumps, agitators, gearboxes, heat exchangers, and large process equipment to install new or repair parts to maintain equipment in a functional stateTroubleshoot valves, gages, piping, pumps and other process subassemblies to determine if installing new or repaired parts requirement to maintain this equipment in a functional stateOperates tools including grinders, drill motors, power hack & band saws, pipe threader, and torches to fabricate or repair process or building componentsUses diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot agitators, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment to detect malfunctions or pending failure.Cleans, lubricates, and replaces shafts, bearings, gears, mechanical seals, and other parts of machineryReads, interprets, and executes procedures related to calibration checks & adjustments of equipment including weigh scales, flow meters, and instrumentsComplies and ensures compliance with all regulatory safety requirements and with all regulatory environmental requirementsComplies and ensures compliance with all company policies, practices and lawful directivesSKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS2+ years of industrial experience as a Maintenance Mechanic; manufacturing preferredHave a commitment to safety and environmental complianceRead and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsCommunicate effectively with other employeesUse of dial indicators, Vernier calipers, micrometers and other precision instruments used in millwrightProficient in making a pattern and cutting gasketsRead and understand tap and drill chart & micrometersProficient in using shop equipment: such as hydraulic press, bearing heater, pipe threader, drill press, grinder and viseRead and work from blue prints, diagrams and chartsWork above and beyond normal hours during application season while maintaining high energy and safety levelsBe prompt, dependable and have a good attendance recordBe able to work weekends and day/night 12 hour rotating shifts when necessaryPass physical and drug testPass a Department of Homeland Security approved pre-employment criminal background checkEDUCATION REQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma or the equivalent required.Vocational or technical degree preferredFull-time, non-exempt position – Compensation depending on experienceExcellent Benefits401K matchESPPHealth Insurance -medical, dental, visionHoliday, vacation and sick leave – paidWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
