This role reports to Sales Manager and is located in Los Angeles, California. As a Sales Specialist, you will be responsible to develop and maintain productive working relationships with assigned Distributors and Commercial Contractor customers, at all levels of their organizations.

Your responsibilities

  • Plan and implement sales strategies to maximize market share and margin, motivate distributors to prefer ABB over the competition.
  • Ownership of the distributor accounts, responsible for maintaining relationships at all levels of organization, developing and monitoring growth plans; marketing programs, training.
  • Plan and Implement sales strategies to grow Distributor stock and small project business.
  • Generate cross-selling leads and make it easier to do business with Industrial Solutions.
  • Conduct training presentations to create preference for ABB.
  • Provide training, joint sales calls and applications support. Understand Trade Area and identify distribution targets for conversion.
  • Introduce new products to existing customer base and identify target customers.
  • Meet or exceed assigned volume and margin measurements.
  • Understand market pricing and keep distributors competitive and utilize to successfully close project construction jobs.
  • Provide market feedback, competitive intelligence and hit-rate information to business and sales leadership.
  • Track sales leads, wins and losses in CRM system, perform analysis on hit-rate data.
  • Create customer marketing programs (NPI launch, training) to promote ABB products and services.
  • Mine construction data (Dodge, bid board) to identify key trends in marketplace and new product needs.
  • Identify new customers and create customer profiles to understand ABB’s position.
  • Participate in industry and local construction organizations to build relationships.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum 1 year experience in sales.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical industry and products.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience working with distributors, electrical contractors.
  • Strong technical application, take-off, and proposal development skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with proven ability to respond quickly to customer needs.
  • Strong coordination and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of customer financial drivers / needs.
  • Ability to apply Six Sigma to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to utilize analytical software and sales tools.
  • Strong oral, written communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
