Outpatient Therapy Program – Assistant Program Supervisor

Mission Community Hospital is 145 bed acute care facility with a 50 year legacy of serving the San Fernando Valley.  We currently seek an Outpatient Program Therapy Assistant Supervisor.   The Program Therapist/Assistant Program Supervisor is a master’s level or above mental health professional who provides quality patient care to adult and geriatric psychiatric populations by conducting groups and psychological assessments.  The Program Therapist/Assistant Program Supervisor serves as patient case manager and a member of the multidisciplinary team.   The Program therapist/Assistant Program Supervisor complies with established policies and procedures and provides direct patient care according to established treatment plans for individual patient needs and the ability to relate in a therapeutic and professional manner.  This is demonstrated, in part, by his/her responsiveness to patient requests with promptness, empathy, and general interest.  The Program Therapist/Assistant Program Supervisor must possess sound clinical judgment and be capable of professionally setting aside personal feelings and beliefs to become client centered. The Program Therapist/Assistant Program Supervisor will assist in the training process and documentation requirements for Program Therapist Interns.   

Clinical Responsibilities

The Program Therapist conducts groups and individual sessions and documents outcomes appropriately and legally.  He/she is responsible for psychological assessments/evaluations on all assigned patients.  The Program Therapist serves as patient case manager and a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, maintaining current individual treatment plans and reviewing these during clinical staff and treatment planning meetings, communicating social service agendas, to coordinate rehabilitation, as needed, for patients.  In crisis situations, the Program Therapist participates to facilitate de-escalation of the incident as much as possible.  He/She participates in the performance improvement of the program by gathering designated data and reporting findings, as requested, to the Program Administrator. The Program Therapist/Assistant Program Supervisor will assist in co-signing Program Therapist clinical group notes and ensure that the treatment plans are updated monthly and documented appropriately in accordance with Medicare Guidelines. The Program Therapist/Assistant Program Supervisor will make him/herself available to assist the Program Manager and when coverage is needed.        

Communication

The Program Therapist/Assistant Program Supervisor is able to maintain effective professional communications in both verbal and written form with all department administrators, medical staff, employees, patients, families and supervisors.   They assist with the accurate, legal, and timely completion of assessments, reports, forms, and documents.   At times, they serve as a liaison between patients, staff, physicians, community entities and utilize principles of quality customer service in all communications.  As a master’s level or above professional, the Program Therapist/Assistant Program Supervisor may need to submit reports as requested by Program Administrator

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Minimum of Master of Arts or Master of Science in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work or Counseling Psychology.
  2. Current CA licensure, as applicable.
  3. Minimum of one-year experience working with adult psychiatric patient population.
  4. Acceptable to contracting hospital (if applicable).
  5. Excellent verbal and written skills.
  6. Current CPR and MAB or PART; or will receive CPR/MAB/PART within probationary period.
