The Global Trade Compliance (GTC) Specialist promotes accurate imports, including adherence to all applicable U.S laws and regulations and with Thermo Fisher policies. The Specialist is also responsible in assisting with our U.S. Drawback program. These efforts are undertaken principally through training and collaborating with employees on applicable regulations. In addition, participation in performing transactional activities for the above areas. **Critical Duties and Responsibilities:** * Stay on top of pertinent regulations and respond accordingly to update all functions/personnel in the division that are affected by changes. * Collaborate with freight forwarders, US customs officers, custom brokers, and internal and customers on all matters pertaining to regulations. * Identify and analyze causes of international compliance issues and gaps and generate recommendations to management. This will most frequently be done by conducting post entry reviews of imports, coordinating with brokers and ensure recordkeeping is maintained. * This individual will also measure and report Key Performance Indicators via various tools * Support country of origin determination and marking * Maintain and improve policies/procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and corporate policy * Directly lead Miscellaneous Shipping process in a relationship role that spans worldwide teams and personnel. * Run special projects as assigned **Minimum Experience and Skills Required:** * Proven track record in trade compliance or similar function with ability to collaborate with various partners across cross-functional departments * Enjoy a flexible work environment crafting your own path to end goals of the team; a team that works hard but respects individuals and their abilities and differences. You will work with the team independently and with minimal direction. * Knowledge of US Tariff Schedule and Import regulations * Detail oriented capable of multitasking, prioritizing and adaptable to quickly changing regulations and environment * Proven communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills * Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly manipulate data and draw appropriate conclusions * Ability to interface expertly with all levels and functions of the organization, including serving providers * Applies a common sense approach to resolve problems and supports root-cause analysis * Ability to apply judgment and discretion * 7 years experience At Thermo Fisher Scientific, each one of our 80,000 extraordinary minds has a unique story to tell.
