Shipping and Receiving Associate

Responsibilities

Position executes shipping and receiving processes and shipping, receiving, and warehousing process-monitoring activities.

Position executes administrative assistant tasks and warehouse associate tasks.

Operation of material handling equipment and lifting is required.

Records lot numbers, lot quantities, manufacture dates, and expiration dates for all outbound shipments leaving distribution center.

Enters data via a keyboard into a computerized data store.

Target performance level is 100% accuracy.

Stamps, initials and dates all source documents.

Conducts research to obtain missing data.

Incumbent identifies the nature of the information required, identifies and locates resources that will supply the required data, evaluates the data contained in or provided by the resources (see following item) , and continues the process until the information need is met.

Evaluates sources of data by checking accuracy (Determines if the information fits with what is already known.) , authority (Determines who has produced the information and why they should be trusted.) , and timeliness (Determines if the information is current.).

Maintains distribution center receiving deficiency records.

Reviews forms for completeness.

Enters data via a keyboard into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

Creates and distributes reports summarizing business partners’ compliance with receipt of goods criteria.

Prepares and transmits correspondence.

Receives and validates storage location data and enters data via a keyboard into a computerized data store.

Target performance level is 100% accuracy.

Answers warehouse telephone lines in a professional and courteous manner in accordance with practices and procedures.

Assists callers by directing calls, taking and relaying messages, responding to inquiries, and providing information.

Schedules dock appointments.

Maintains distribution center food and food packaging materials logs.

Receives various documents including inspection reports, bills of lading, pull sheets, etc., and reviews the documents ensuring all required information is present for each log entry.

Organizes the documents, compiles the documents according to a specified sequence, and files them in the appropriate log.

Archives logs in accordance to company procedures and record retention guidelines.

Conveys materials and items from receiving areas to storage or to other designated areas.

Drives material handling equipment to transport stored items within the warehouse.

Loads and unloads trailers of palletized product utilizing manual and automated material handling equipment.

Prepares and takes inventory of all merchandise; records counts on inventory sheets.

Cleans inside and outside of warehouse building as directed by management.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

Forklift operation and food distribution experience preferred.

Must be able to get along well with others.

Must enjoy working in a fast pace warehouse.

High school diploma required.

Related experience and/or training preferred.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as customer orders, shipping and receiving paperwork, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively to customers, third party drivers, other visitors and employees of organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
