Construction Superintendent

A global construction & engineering firm has a need for a Construction Superintendent with experience in general commercial & industrial construction including demolition activities, dealing with tearing down buildings on public works projects, and asbestos / lead abatement experience to join their Los Angeles based team. This role will be managing sites that are 50% Tank pulls / 50% demolition construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion
  • Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
  • Communicate with project team regarding ASI’s, RFI’s, and Material Submittals.
  • Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work.
  • Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.
  • Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution.
  • Maintain daily log (written) of activities on the job site.
  • Perform Superintendent duties at multiple job sites, simultaneously.
  • Ensure subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by project team.
  • Walk all units on project daily to monitor activities and assist in future planning.
  • Preside over weekly subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the work.
  • Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors in regard to quality of work or scheduling.
  • Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
  • Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion
  • Strong Demolition/Abatement and Structural experience Required.

Experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience in construction superintendent / construction management
  • Prior experience working on above-ground storage tanks & underground storage tanks
  • Minimum OSHA 10, OSHA 30 preferred
  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER required

  • Coordinating all site construction activities
  • Meet the construction production schedule
  • Controlling budgets and scheduling of construction activities during pre-construction meetings
  • Verify construction work is completed per the plans and construction specifications
  • Enforcing construction site rules and safety
  • Manage the on-site construction activities
  • Receive and manage construction materials
  • Perform construction/installation cost estimates
  • Prepare and manage a construction schedule
  • Complete construction projects within time limits
  • Keep informed of construction progress
  • Overseeing all activities on major construction projects with new building construction and demolition activities
  • Generate construction and operations reports
  • Reviewing design and construction drawings, conducting pre-construction meetings, contractor oversight, monitoring construction schedule, and coordinating construction activities with internal departments
  • Supervise and coordinate all construction activities
  • Meet construction budget by monitoring project expenditures
  • Prepare construction schedule and perform regular updates during the course of construction
  • Identifying construction management system improvements
