JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Director of Accounting to join our Accounting team in supporting our Fox Digital & Technology organization.

Collaborating with our Vice President of Accounting & Financial Operations and our Financial Operations and Asset Accounting teams, you will be ensuring the accuracy and consistency in the treatment of accounting transactions and ensuring compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and general accounting corporate policies.

You will be responsible for providing expert guidance in accounting policy matters, conducting monthly financial closings, processing internal cost allocations accounting, and preparing balance sheets and intercompany reconciliations, and complying with Corporate requirements.

You will also be supporting our Financial Planning & Analysis team in the preparation of budgets and forecasts by ensuring accuracy and completeness of actual financial results and preparation of Balance Sheet and Cash flow statements.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
General Accounting
Full ownership of financial books and records, including the maintenance of general ledger and sub-ledger systems, review and approve all journal entries, accruals, reserves and general ledger account reconciliations, cost allocations (liquidations) as well as third-party and internal billings Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the company’s Capital Assets accounting process and the reporting and enforcing the company’s capitalization policies/procedures Coordinate Finance Operations activities, including purchase order compliance, vendor liaison, and invoice processing Prepare full Balance Sheet analysis and related reconciliations, including flux analysis on balance movements from period to period Ensure compliance documentation in support of external and internal audit requirements
Month-End Close
Prepare, review, and post journal entries for month-end close including the booking of G&A accruals, labor accruals, intercompany accruals, internal allocations, reclassifications, and processing of cost allocations to internal clients Perform detailed review of financial results during the month-end close process to ensure accuracy and completeness of actual results versus budget/forecast Maintain adequate levels of information support for accounting transactions Maintain integrity and accuracy of the accounting treatment for internal cost allocations and ensure cost base liquidation/allocation completeness Responsible for the finalization of the accounting period post-close, including performing final reviews and procedures to ensure proper balance clearing/settlement
Intercompany reconciliation and settlement
Ensure proper review and reconciliation of intercompany activity for all Digital & Technology legal entities Ensure proper documentation of balance confirmation/settlement from corresponding intercompany entity/partner on a monthly and quarterly basis Troubleshoot and resolve any differences that might exist
Balance Sheet account reconciliations and activity analysis and other reporting
Prepare a comprehensive monthly closing binder, including adequate supporting documentation validation for all balance sheet accounts Ensure timely and accurate completion of Balance Sheet G/L account reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies Prepare census financial information for annual reports Prepare annual Federal/State corporate tax packages Prepare selected financial data for insurance renewals purposes Review and approve monthly/quarterly sales and property tax reporting & filings
Asset Accounting
Oversee all asset accounting related activities, including the booking of depreciation expense, accruals, asset additions/disposals, asset transfers, and suspense account or other reclassifications Reconcile and report Construction in process (CIP) Asset accounts; verify proper categorization and roll-forward of capital balances by project Responsible for all accounting aspects related to labor capitalization for internally developed software and accounting/compliance with ASU 2018-15 and accounting for cloud computing implementation development costs Responsible for all Corporate Asset related reporting requirements and for ensuring proper compliance, documentation, and testing of required Key SOX controls Lead a team of 2, including a Manager and a Senior Financial Analyst
Financial Operations
Oversee and ensure ongoing compliance with Purchase Order requirements to facilitate the accuracy of month-end close accruals Record vendor accruals and amortization of prepayments Perform monthly reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts for Prepaids and Vendor accruals Maintain contractor database and ensure information remains current and relevant Ensure vendor documentation compliance, including SOW, service contracts, agreements, and evaluation of accounting implications Liaise with a team of 3, including a Director and 2 Analysts
Internal/External Audit and Other Activities
Ensure and maintain proper documentation to support the SOX audit program effectiveness, for both internal & external audit requirements Ensure proper finance user access to JD Edwards and shared drives and performing periodic required audits Responsible for general accounting procedures periodic testing of key controls and timely remediation of identified issues Maintain proper evidence documentation of compliance with key controls and procedures Maintain approval hierarchies in the procurement/payables system Coupa Maintain a monthly journal log of all entries posted in each accounting period and month-end closing procedures checklist Serve as a gatekeeper of chart accounts for the group Set up/activate new codes as needed
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
A minimum of 10 years of accounting experience Experience with MS Outlook/Word & especially Excel; JDE/Insight financial system Possess an understanding of accounting functions and are able to trace transactions to and from their point of origin Ability to understand the “whole picture” and the reasoning behind the tasks that are performed Strong analytical thinking Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the aptitude to communicate with all levels of management
NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is also preferred
