The Technology (Tech) Build Product Manager embodies the intersection of software engineering, design, and the business. They are responsible for tech build delivery outcomes, which is the culmination of business case creation, application development/modification, and engineering. The Tech Build Product Manager understands business, design, and software engineering implications for their decision making. The successful candidate has a strong vision and thinks big by creating product strategy and roadmaps. They also simplify processes and outcomes by prioritizing and managing a backlog of product features in accordance with tactical or strategic market needs. Fundamentally, the Tech Build Product Manager delivers tangible software-based outcomes. 

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

Manages and owns tech build development projects from inception through completion, on-time and on-budget, including setting up project schedules, identifying milestones, and communicating status, updates and project summaries to executives and senior leaders 

Identifies large disruptive technology opportunities and develops plans to take advantage of them 

Makes business cases that are hard to refute or ignore, leveraging data and storytelling to achieve buy-in, executive sponsorship, and allocation of resources needed for the Tech Build team to execute (e.g., headcount, funding) 

Sequences projects to balance quick wins vs. platform investments, and balance projects that grow the business with ones that protect and remove drag on the business (operations, reducing technical debt, fixing bugs, etc.) 

Efficiently forecasts the approximate benefit of a project by applying experience and leveraging comparable benchmarks and measures benefits to incorporate into future prioritization and forecasts

Identifies technical complexities and trade-offs of product features without costing input from developers 

Distinguishes great design from good design and articulates the difference to their design counterpoints and the directions to pursue to go from good to great 

Uses deep knowledge of the customer and end-user, including their scenarios, business needs, and feature considerations per customer type, to build the products that customers wish they knew to ask for 

Builds and sustains relationships, collaborates with, and coordinates between customers, key stakeholders, engineers, and designers to drive product plans and strategy to completion 

Encourages and develops associates on their project teams with skills in business, engineering, and design, including reviewing work products and providing appropriate feedback

WHAT WE EXPECT YOU’VE ALREADY DONE:

5+ years in building technical products 

Experience with defining and managing business requirements and outcomes with our business partners, and working with technical teams to create and integrate relevant projects into that vision 

Experience managing high performing engineering teams 

Experience communicating and working with technical and non-technical senior stakeholders, across multiple business units 

Ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences 

Experience with Agile development approach and tools 

Experience with production release cycles and product planning and requirements gathering 

Experience with unblocking the team, writing epics and user stories, and operating the mechanics of Lean UI/UX agile processes
