Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Facilities

Overview: The Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Facilities is responsible for leading the Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities and Property departments in the development, improvement and sustainment of overall manufacturing processes and company facilities to represent state-of-the-art organizational capabilities and to enable Manufacturing teams to achieve established targets for customer order fulfillment, on-time delivery, cost, and quality.

The Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Facilities will oversee the team that transitions new products from Product Development into the production environment and is held accountable for ensuring process quality and program labor cost targets are achieved.

The Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Facilities demonstrates both technical and thought leadership qualities to become a strategic leader in inspiring a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, cross-functional collaboration, and curiosity that leads to innovation.

Responsibilities: Develop and execute roadmap for continually improving operational performance by driving innovation, process improvement and cost reduction through the introduction of new technologies and optimization of production processes, systems and equipment.Partner with leaders and relevant stakeholders across the organization to assess manufacturing capability requirements related to the organization’s product development roadmap and sales and operations plan.Collaborate with Product Development, Technology, Innovation, Marketing, Quality, Regulatory and Supply Chain to establish priorities for building manufacturing capability and resolving process or system issues to ensure the smooth transition of new products into production.Lead Manufacturing Engineering team by coordinating with leadership, engineers and other experts to develop manufacturing plans and process optimization strategies, as well as setting goals and assessing progress that will deliver desired results.Lead Automation Engineering team by supporting the development and execution of overall vision, strategic direction, operational objectives, and prioritized roadmap for manufacturing automation, tooling and test integration processes, systems and technologies.Lead Property, Facilities and Maintenance teams to ensure manufacturing equipment is operating safely at a maximum level of efficiency and the property and facilities can support the organization’s strategic growth plans.Develop and execute plans to expand and improve facilities and utilize space efficiently and effectively, including onsite/offsite manufacturing, warehouse and storage, as well as facility needs for all employees.Provide overall strategy and direction for the implementation and maintenance of technology enterprise processes and systems, including Manufacturing and Environmental Health & Safety process controls and automation and reporting and analytics systems.Provide direction and leadership to reinforce a lean manufacturing mindset that fully leverages industry best practices and process standardization to minimize waste and enable continuous improvement efforts that drive improved business results.Support and lead Value Added Engineering (VAVE) efforts.Promote and foster a culture that results in a safe working environment, sponsoring EHS initiatives and providing insights into long-term strategy on workplace safety.Provide overall leadership to teams, setting operational strategies, establishing business-focused goals and objectives and continued talent development.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or related engineering discipline, Master’s degree is preferred.10 years of senior level experience leading technical teams in a manufacturing environment in progressively challenging roles.

5 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment required.Experience developing long-term facilities and space planning preferred.Ability to, and experience in, successfully leading and directing the work of individuals and teams in a high growth, fast-paced environment.Demonstrated project management skills, and a track record of success in bringing highly complex, cross-functional projects to completion.Demonstrated ability to align work with the strategic goals of the organization while understanding business needs and implications of decisions.
