The Boeing Space & Launch team is seeking a Senior Space Systems Digital Engineering Lead (Level 5) for development projects in El Segundo or Seal Beach, CA.
You will participate in all phases of the system development life cycle, including concept of operations (ConOps) development, requirements development, analysis and decomposition, software and hardware system design, algorithm design, risk management, integration, test and documentation. The successful candidate will be leading system/subsystem level ConOps development, multi-segment interface definition, architecture integration, functional decomposition, and system design activities. This is a 1st shift position.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Space & Launch SEIT Digital Engineering (DE) Lead is responsible for coordination, planning, and insertion of Enterprise Developed Model Based Engineering (MBE) processes and tools into Space Domain programs. The candidate will interact directly with Sr. Leadership in both the Engineering and the Program Management organizations to coordinate MBE process and tool onboarding, as well as providing status and reporting to the enterprise level of the onboarding activities associated with each program.
- Leverage broad, multi-segment Systems Architecture and MBE experiences to lead the implementation of MBE across Space & Launch programs
- Understand and track progress on all Boeing Enterprise developed MBE Kits and develop detailed plans for onboarding them into Space Domain programs
- Ensure MBSE commonality across all models and programs
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts across the Boeing Company to apply lessons learned and coordinate downstream handoffs between Space & Launch and other Divisions
- Share MBE best practices, lessons learned and serve as an MBE mentor
- Participate in reviews to ensure high quality DME representation
- Assist in the development of proposals for new business that will implement MBE.
This position requires an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) that has been successfully completed within the last 5 years. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
- 10+ years of systems engineering experience involving system requirements, functional decomposition and allocation, integrated design, analysis, and verification.
- 5+ years of experience involving Model Based Engineering approaches, methods, and techniques.
- Experience leading system architecture and model development in an MBE tool using SysML.
Preferred (Preferred) Qualifications:
- Systems Engineering leadership experience in development, integration, validation, and verification.
- Experience performing system level trade studies.
- Experience in modeling, simulation and analysis.
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler
- Familiarity with SQL/Access, MATLAB, C++, C#, Java
- Experience validating models
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
