Live-In, Hebrew Speaking Nanny

**nn nn n nn nnWe are a modern Jewish American couple expecting our first child in September 2021 (BH).

Both of us are entrepreneurs running our own companies and working full-time.

We are looking for a primary caregiver for our child for the first two years of their life.

The mom will be working from home and “in and out” throughout the day.

They will often be caring for the child in partnership with the mom or one of the grandparents, particularly during outings.nn nn n nn nn It is important to us that all candidates have: nn HEBREW FLUENCY: Speak fluent Hebrew and extremely proficient English.

We will ask that you speak Hebrew to the baby and English to us!

Our Hebrew is terrible, and it’s so important to us that our child learn a good accent from an early age.

PASSION FOR THIS WORK: We are looking for someone who love infants and children, and will embrace our style of parenting: no yelling, explain everything, honor the curiosity of the child and their unique personality.

FLEXIBILITY: The schedule will be M-F 8:30
– 4:30 with some Sunday support (2-3 hours) and one evening a week.

This schedule is likely to vary every week, for 40-45 hours per week total.

Flexibility is important to us.

A PASSPORT: Candidates should be willing and eager to travel, and equally as happy in our home base of Durham, NC.

VACCINATIONS: Are up to date on all relevant vaccinations, including COVID-19.

We will not consider candidates who are not willing to be vaccinated.

LITERACY SKILLS: Are able to read books in English and Hebrew, and prioritize literacy with our child.

EXPERIENCE: All candidates must have at least five years of childcare experience, and at least two years of infant experience.

nn n nn nn Leading candidates will have: nn ENGLISH FLUENCY: Speak English well enough to communicate near fluency, both written and verbal.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND: Have experience with Waldorf or Montessori-style education in an academic or practice (pre-school, etc) setting.

EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE: We will prioritize candidates with 10+ years of experience and those who are career nannies.

We are looking for someone to stay long-term (2+ years).

KNOWLEDGE OF KASHRUT: We keep a kosher home and are looking for someone who has experience with kashrut or a deep willingness to learn.

A LOVE FOR THE OUTDOORS: Are comfortable in the outdoors, and prioritize outdoor activities in nature.

We have a small country house 20 minutes away and spend weekends there.

The mom (Sophia) was an infant nanny in college and knows what it’s like to be treated like a member of the family.

That’s what we’re aiming to do.

We prioritize clear, open communication.

This is a real partnership for us.

HOUSING: They will have housing in our brand new, private one bedroom guesthouse on our property.

The guest house is separate from our home and has a full kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bath.

When staying in our country house, they will have their own bedroom and a bathroom that might be shared.

TEAM: We have a full-time housekeeper, and many supportive grandparents nearby.

We will also have a night nurse for the first four to six months.

This role involves very little to no housekeeping.

BENEFITS: We will provide a monthly healthcare stipend, seven sick days, and two weeks of paid vacation per year.

We will encourage our nanny to go on cultural outings with the baby, including to gardens, museums, concerts, etc.

We will pay for the cost of all outings.

SALARY: They will be paid $48,000
– $62,000 per year.

Overtime over 45 hours will be paid at a rate of $25-30 per hour, depending on their annual salary, which will be based on experience and qualifications.

TRAVEL: When it is safe, you will travel with us domestically and internationally.

We have one trip scheduled to Europe in May 2022 and likely another one to Israel.

BONUS POTENTIAL: They will have annual performance reviews with the potential for bonus pay for outstanding performance.
