What You Will Be Doing
You will be part of the Risk Management and Compliance Group, assisting with the build out of Verizon Media’s Privacy Compliance program to ensure Verizon Media has complete coverage of systems, processes and policies to protect user data . This will involve documenting and assessing controls, overseeing policies, processes, people and systems, partnering with our legal privacy team and business leaders to identify and mitigate regulatory and reputational risks. Also, as the subject matter expert, you will take a key role in compliance and privacy initiatives, which includes developing and conducting risk assessments, documenting processes, workflows, and recommendations. Your work will help us improve our processes to ensure we have an efficient and effective privacy compliance program.
This will include the following:

Documenting processes/workflows supporting privacy frameworks to identify gaps and provide process enhancement recommendations.

Driving the development, documentation and implementation of privacy frameworks in a manner that fulfills the mission and strategic goals of the organization while complying with regulatory guidance.

Lead privacy risk assessments, capturing controls and evaluating design and operating effectiveness
-
Assisting with development, implementation and maintenance of privacy and data protection policies and standard operating procedures for COPPA, GDPR, CCPA and other emerging domestic and global privacy laws.

Using data mining results, statistical analysis and other techniques to assess the effectiveness of system controls and perform testing as needed to identify root-cause issues and formulate improvement recommendations for senior management.

Partnering with the business to drive the remediation of controls that are not functioning as intended; the enhancement of the control environment, to address current and developing threats; and the overall improvement to change control.

Managing frequent, ad hoc requests from the business for advice/assistance regarding controls and compliance.

Leading compliance training programs for function, including training of compliance personnel and/or function teams as needed to ensure compliance.

Preparing executive presentations on the status of the privacy compliance program.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree
-
Professional Designation Preferred
-
10-15 years of increasing responsibility and relevant privacy compliance, audit and risk management experience; strong background developing and managing a privacy compliance program and promoting a risk-aware, governance, and ownership mindset throughout an organization
-
Master’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
-
Expertise in and proven ability to interpret and apply relevant data privacy laws and regulations to company policy and procedures, including, but not limited to, the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, the California Consumer Privacy Act, California Privacy Rights Act and Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act
-
Demonstrated effectiveness assessing privacy risks and developing controls and processes appropriate to company risk appetite; experience leveraging auditing principles and methods to evaluate policies, processes and systems to identify business risks and control gaps
-
Knowledge of COSO framework, accounting principles, regulations and how they relate to business and IT processes
-
Working understanding of advertisement network business, experience in automated systems control testing and enterprise risk management framework; knowledge of risk frameworks (COSO, NIST, ISO, COBIT etc.)
-
Experience in relevant technology and data management acumen to enable productive partnerships with IT risk, security and data teams
-
Strong background in process and controls and understanding of the operating business environment from a controls and compliance perspective
-
Experience in change management, ability to strengthen privacy compliance coverage across businesses and functions by collaborating on best practices and methodically implementing them
-
Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and follow-up as needed

Ability to contribute effectively in a dynamic team environment

Strong interpersonal skills to successfully develop relationships among various groups and levels of management
