AMVAC Chemical Corporation, a worldwide leader in delivering a broad array of solutions for agriculture, nursery/ornamental, commercial & consumer markets has an EXCEPTIONAL career opportunity for an experienced MAINTENANCE MECHANIC to work out of our Los Angeles, CA manufacturing facility.As a Maintenance Mechanic for AMVAC, you will maintain and repair the manufacturing equipment and machinery to keep this busy chemical plant operating at optimum performance 24 hours x 365 days and insure compliance with safety, regulatory and plant guidelines.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Install, repair, maintain, adjust and overhaul manufacturing equipment including pumps, gearboxes, centrifuges, pipe fittings and moreOperate power tools, hand tools, drills, grinders, cutters safelyOperate forklift to move equipment and loads to work areaWork safely with and around toxic and corrosive chemicals wearing proper safety equipment such as hard hat, safety glasses, chemical resistant suit, dust mask, rubber gloves, respirator, safety boots, rain protection gear, apron and other equipment as requiredUtilize mechanical skills including fabrication, erection, cutting, drilling, fitting and assembly of pipe and other equipmentInstall, dismantle, repair and assemble complex equipment and diagnose complex equipment failuresWork on ladders, scaffolds and in pitsOperate pipe-threading machineSkills & Requirements:3+ years experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a busy, manufacturing plantHS Diploma / GED requiredProper use of various mechanics tools, inspection gauges and power tools such as grinders, cutters, drillsMust be able to function while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) including half face, full-face respirator or supplied air breathing apparatusExcellent communication skills, speaking and listening, and ability to follow instructionsPerform basic math calculations as well as read diagrams and instructionsComply with both oral and written safety procedures and policiesBe able to function in a crisis situation under direction of Lead operator or supervisor in case of emergency which may involve flammable, corrosive and/or highly toxic chemicals.Must pass post-offer drug test, background check and other appropriate testing as required.Compensation & BenefitsHighly competitive hourly wage based on your experience plus overtime potentialExceptional Health insurance including Medical, Dental, Vision, LifeHealth Savings Account (HSA); Flexible Spending Account (FSA)401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with employer matchingEmployee Stock Purchasing Plan with employee discountVacation, Sick & Holiday PayWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in our company.
