Job Summary: Assists in the management and coordination of respiratory care services within the organization. Demonstrates the ability to meet the needs and provide service to all age groups-infancy through geriatrics. Supervises technicians, technologists, Respiratory Care Practitioners and ancillary personnel. Coordinates and equally performs those duties directly involved with a variety of respiratory care procedures. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required Master’s Degree: Preferred Five years’ clinical experience in an acute care setting: Preferred Leadership experience: Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner: Required Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS OR HS-PALS OR RQIPALS) certification: Preferred Facility Specific License/Certifications: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or HeartCode PALS (HPALS): Required Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS): Required Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP): Required Essential Functions: Coordinates technicians, technologists, Respiratory Care Practitioners and ancillary personnel within the specific areas, procedures and satellites of the department. Coordinates and equally performs those duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures. Directs and coordinates department activities and staffing assignments for patient care, reassessing needs throughout the shift and making adjustments as needed. Assesses and prepares staffing schedules that meet departmental needs for all shifts as needed. Monitors employee time and attendance. Monitors and evaluates unit operation for quality and efficiency with a focus on improvement. Demonstrates leadership skills by providing positive role model and enhancing personal growth. Demonstrates communication skills through interaction with customers, peers, physicians and other departments. Monitors and evaluates employee performance , competencies and productivity to ensure proper work levels of quality and quantity are maintained. Evaluate staff performance for annual appraisal and ongoing as performance issues arise. Coaches as needed. Provides corrective action, where deems appropriate, through the issuance of oral and written reprimands. In-services newly hired personnel and recommends, participates, and formulates teaching programs and in-service educational classes. Ensures the quality improvement programs for the department meets regulatory agency standards along with providing statistical reports and updates. Performs Quality Assurance audits to monitor quality of Respiratory functions for their specific areas. Reviews and updates departmental policies and procedure with Respiratory Manager. Reports challenges related to staffing, morale, work methods, and procedures. Coordinates and supervises operational policies and procedures within the assigned department. Interfaces with vendors regarding supplies and equipment making purchase recommendations to administrative personnel. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
