As the Construction Commercial Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in the growth and success of our client’s Masonry’s Commercial Construction Department. Your responsibilities will encompass collecting and analyzing relevant information from commercial leads, calculating construction costs, and presenting competitive bids to prospective clients. You will draft comprehensive scope of service proposals, determine project workflows, estimate material requirements and labor costs, create client accounts, track open bids, and diligently follow up to secure successful outcomes. Additionally, you will prepare materials lists and draft change orders as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct project walkthroughs with clients to fully understand project requirements and expectations.
- Perform takeoffs from plant sets and accurately estimate the cost of commercial jobs.
- Present detailed bids, including written scopes of work, for timely submission.
- Attend weekly meetings with the production team to review closed bids and develop staffing strategies for upcoming commercial projects.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to project timelines on commercial construction sites.
- Enforce job site safety protocols and ensure production deadlines are met.
- Draft change orders when necessary to accommodate project modifications.
- Conduct project walkthroughs with foremen and crews to ensure clarity and understanding of the scope of work.
- Coordinate with foremen and project managers to discuss project goals, address challenges, and manage alterations in project scopes.
- Maintain strong communication with clients to address any project concerns and perform final project walkthroughs for customer sign-off.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in masonry and concrete work, with a strong emphasis on both commercial and residential sectors.
- Expert knowledge of various trades, including block, brick, stone, stucco, concrete, tile, grading, machine work, precast, repointing, drainage, waterproofing, and the ability to interpret blueprints.
- Proven managerial experience of at least 5 years.
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications.
- Familiarity with building and safety inspections and comprehensive knowledge of OSHA standards.
- Proficiency in operating machinery such as Bobcats, Backhoes, and excavators.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Willingness to spend extended hours on the road daily.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in relevant software applications.
