Role description: We are looking for dedicated, creative, and energetic candidates interested in tackling challenges and developing sustainable solutions to address water issues like quality, scarcity, reuse, management, and resilience.
Collaborating with our experienced water professionals, you will support and drive the development of projects, interact, and work with clients, and develop your technical capabilities.
Role accountabilities: Knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, and practices related to water/wastewater/stormwater.
Interested in a combination of office work, field assignments, and travel Functional experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS Evaluate, plan, design, and support management of projects for water/wastewater/ stormwater treatment and conveyance (pipelines and pumping facilities).
Assess, develop, and support the management of sustainability and resilience projects including vulnerability and mitigation assessments, and planning and design for utilities, municipalities, and cities Exercises judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives Perform fieldwork activities such as site visits, construction inspection, sampling, water quality analyses, asset inventory, flow monitoring set-up and monitoring, technology evaluations, and plant operations information, process troubleshooting and optimization Preparation of reports, presentations, and other audio-visual materials, and participation in client meetings Provide construction oversight and management through all phases of water and sewer projects Review plans and specifications for assigned projects, attend pre-construction conferences, progress meetings, safety meetings and bid openings Inspect and assure quality of work, testing procedures, inspection protocols and construction techniques Complete and maintain detailed, daily construction activity logs tracking construction progress, personnel and equipment, and time and materials utilization Monitor and track contractor progress and adherence to contract schedule Review and respond to contractor requests for information (RFIs), change order requests and periodic payment applications Act as liaison to office design staff for obtaining field information related to the answering of correspondence, RFI’s and review of shop drawings Assure that materials used on projects are in compliance with approved plans, specifications, submittal and ordinances, on behalf of Clients and Project Manager Use digital tools to enhance customer experience, team and client collaboration, and project delivery including configuration and deployment of SharePoint, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Power BI, and Augmented Reality Required Qualifications: 2-8 years of responsible water resource engineer experience, including planning, design and construction administration and oversight experience Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
Ability to obtain EIT within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications: PE and/or CCM in MA Construction resident inspection/oversight Prior work/internship experience at a design or consulting engineering firm or municipal work environment.
Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and Power BI EIT certification NASSCO PACP/MACP training and certification Active participation in regional or national professional associations Key Skills and Attributes: Familiarity and experience with trenchless technology sewer rehabilitation construction methods, including cured-in-place pipelining.
Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously Prior experience as an Inspector or Junior Resident Engineer on water/wastewater construction project(s).
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Experience and basic proficiency with the MS Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Prior experience with evaluating and processing RFI’s, Time-and-material record keeping, processing contractor’s monthly payment requests, Change Order negotiations, and claim resolution support.
Monitor performance of contractors, subcontractors and suppliers and follow up on and relay any issues to clients and managers, including any changes or deviations from plans Why Become an Arcadian?
