For additional information about Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and Leslie Science & Nature Center: https://discoverscienceandnature.org About the Role of President & Executive Director The President and Executive Director is charged with conducting the affairs of the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and the Leslie Science & Nature Center, interpreting and applying the policies adopted by the Board of Trustees and directing and managing the operations and activities of the staff.

Key Responsibilities Include In consultation with the Board of Trustees and Organization staff, coordinates the development and periodic review of the strategic plan and goals for the organization; sets objectives to ensure that all programs contribute to achieving goals.

Provides overall supervision of the planning, development and coordination of all aspects of the organization; manages, through appropriate personnel, the daily activities of all departments and operations, with special attention to the core education-related activities, including grants and awards, educational and outreach programs, and exhibits.

Is responsible for maintaining high standards of professionalism in areas including, but not limited to, education, exhibits, finance, fund raising, general operations, grants and awards, membership and public affairs.

In consultation with the Development Committee, oversees the fund-raising program of the Museum; solicits, as appropriate, bequests, and major gifts to finance the Museum’s operations and capital improvements.

Directs, in accordance with professional standards and ethics, the public affairs activities of the organization, including advertising, marketing, and public and governmental relations.

Establishes and maintains effective relations with civic groups and governmental agencies and officials dealing with the organization.
