We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the role of Histology Technician/Technologist I-II.
The successful candidate will integrate into a growing team and will assist with all aspects of the histological process, ranging from tissue accessioning (log-in), grossing, processing, embedding/trimming, cutting (FFPE and frozen sections) and staining slides (routine/special and immunohistochemistry).
There is ample opportunity to make impactful contributions to the laboratory set-up/histology program including building a healthy and positive working environment.
The successful candidate is expected to help and be involved in the continued growth of the histology lab and program.
Other expectations include writing SOPs, developing protocols, generating good quality histology data for our internal model development as well as external studies.
Essential Functions In a timely manner:
· Accurately log-in, label, organize, track specimens
· Assist with microtomy/cryotomy (cutting) of paraffin/OCT frozen blocks
· Perform routine and special stains histology and chromogenic histochemistry, manually and/or on a semi-/automated platform
· Optimize antigen retrieval conditions, blocking, detection, and titer to ensure ideal staining conditions for antibodies
· Keeps laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt
· Assist in the preparation of staining reagents from detailed laboratory SOPs and document that quality control standards are being met
· Assist in the design and writing of laboratory protocols for all procedures
· Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs
· Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books
· Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data and selecting corrective steps
· Assist in organizing work and storage space and in general lab upkeep
· Intermediate project management skills
· Intermediate antibody database management skills
· Some Digital Pathology skills (whole slide scanning, image analysis skills)
· Assist in the vetting of stains, fixatives and antibodies to be used for specific applications
· Assist in establishing, optimizing, and customizing procedures for fixing, processing, sectioning, staining, and reagent preparation to support basic and complex histology and immunohistochemistry projects
· Assist in the development of new and/or emerging slide-based assays/technology, troubleshoot, and test new reagents
· Participate in group meetings with laboratory staff (Scientists/Techs/Research Associates)
· Perform other duties, as assigned by the Director/Head Send your resume to elizabeth.garciaaragen.com Qualifications: Minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years of relevant Histopathology/Digital pathology experience.
HT or HTL (ASCP) Certification plus one additional certification in immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology and digital image analysis strongly preferred.
Knowledge in imaging, microscopy and image analysis is highly desirable.
The successful histology technician/technologist must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines, be detail-oriented, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are a must.

In addition, the incumbent must be flexible and skilled at organizing and prioritizing tasks.
Familiarity with Office 365 e.g.
Word, Excel, Teams and scientific software e.g.
Imagescope, Visiopharm, and Image Management systems (IMS) are essential.
