Currently, we are looking for a Robotics Engineer, Perception to join the ArcBest Technologies team.

The Robotics Engineer, Perception creates innovative solutions to problems by using mathematical modeling, engineering principals, Automation/Robotics principles, computer programming, or other advanced analytical skills.

This position acquires team resources and coordinates team efforts in order to deliver results on projects/processes that are part of the strategic plan for ArcBest and its subsidiaries.

The Robotics Engineer, Perception also provides clear and concise project definition, scope, action plans, and communication as well as develops solutions designed to meet project goals while ensuring quality throughout processes.

Your contribution may include: Design, test, and build robotic software systems that are productive and safe to operate.

Create advanced algorithms for the purpose of robotic perception.

Develop software and processes that dictate robotic systems functionality.

Utilize computer vision algorithms for purpose of perception pipelines.

Utilize 3D Point Cloud processing for the purpose of perception pipelines.

Utilize machine learning algorithms to enhance perception systems for robustness and or speed.

Be familiar with GPGPU systems, e.g., CUDA.

Utilize appropriate language/development stack including C, C++, or Python.

Develop and document system requirements & allocate/decompose them to components/controllers as well as develop controls systems design guidelines, best practices, and other processes, tools, and templates.

Maintain basic knowledge of high-performance hydraulics, fluid and electro-mechanical actuators, sensors, mechanics, and dynamics.

Implement Agile development and Continuous Integration (CI) concepts in software development and maintenance.

Develop dynamic simulations.

Support existing software.

Support ArcBest and its subsidiaries on technical and strategic initiatives.

Direct and manage project development from beginning to end, including full risk assessment and recommendations for adjustment of priorities as needed.

Serve as technical support for advanced automation systems.

Perform research into innovative design, operation, and performance of the systems and/or processes.

Meet and communicate with Senior Leadership and external customers to provide updates, seek direction, give presentations, communicate success barriers, and showcase project results.

Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.

Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As a Robotics Software Engineer, Perception , you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Technology Research and Development team in Fort Smith, AR.

Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.

Before doing so, please make sure you meet the minimum requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Master’s degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience: Prior experience in computer vision, artificial intelligence, or related field.

Systems analysis and design skills, required.

Computer Skills: Strong programming skills, preferred.

Strong systems analysis and design skills.

Other Requirements: Strong knowledge of machine learning, computer vision, and computer perception systems.
