Responsibilities: Job Summary: The activity assistant provides the highest level of customer service to the residents of A.O.

Fox Nursing Home while implementing individual and group activities based on the specific needs and interest of the resident(s).

Essential Functions: Observes and reports residents status changes and needs Answers call lights and alarms.

Reports resident needs to appropriate staff person.

Prioritizes, prepares and organizes work within specified time frames.

Provides assistance to all residents as needed while providing resident with encouragement to participate at their highest practicable level.

Transports residents to destination as needed.

Help to keep units clean and clutter free to ensure a relaxed and homelike environment.Operates all equipment and performs all procedures in a safe manner.

Cleans supplies, equipment and work area as directed.

Demonstrates ability to accept constructive criticism and uses it to improve work performance.

Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide non-direct patient care/support to staff under the direction of the Director.

Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department inter/intra departmentally to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.

Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Completes work assignments on time and readily accepts assignments as observed by the director Qualifications: Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Completion of NYS Certification for Activity Assistant.Experience: Previous long term care experience preferred.Knowledge/Skills: Ability to communicate effectively.

Document information accurately.

Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of people.Physical Requirements: Sit, Bend, Squat, Reach, Lift, Carry, Push, Pull ½ or more of the time.

Weight lifted/force exerted – up to 35 lbs.Licenses/Certifications: NYS Activity Assistant Certification Preferred.
