Logistics Director

Perform a variety of key tasks to ensure company objectives for cost savings, transportation operational efficiencies, and managing/improving the transportation processes to advance the objectives set by the Executive team.

You will be responsible for managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all West coast drayage operation.

Duties

  • Manage the day-to-day operation, execution of start-up operations, implementation of transportation cost reduction strategies, and achieving established profit margin targets.
  • Set a clear direction and plan of action for the East Coast Drayage Team.
  • Facilitate streamlining process in the Drayage Department.
  • Execute the strategic plan given to achieve transportation targets (financials and service)
  • Understand transportation industry specific landscapes and trends and effectively communicate industry shifts.
  • Participate in Cross-Departmental/Company collaboration and support the achievement of strategic objectives critical to other cross-functional areas
  • Assist and develop transportation subordinates, supervisors, specialists and associate in leadership and employee development.
  • Ensure implementation and compliance of Lineage Safety guidelines and staff Policies.
  • Responsible for planning, partner carrier management, owner operator sourcing and management, and potentially asset sourcing, scheduling, dispatch operations, driver management, and equipment management.
  • Own process for rate negotiation, drayage capacities management, carrier KPI’s, carrier expectation communication, and reports to drive expected results.
  • Develop processes and procedures for teams to ensure success of proper servicing of customer demands.
  • Assist Commercial teams with rate calculations, supply chain modeling and commercial proposals.
  • Develop process to Investigate and properly dispute invoices from Steam Ship Lines, Ports, Container Yards and others.
  • Develop a full working knowledge of Company TMS and champion adoption of best practices.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and strategic planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years in drayage operation
  • Transportation Asset based and brokerage experience required
  • Prior P&L Management Experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop, manage, lead and communicate effectively with staff.
  • Trinium experience a plus
  • Ability to effectively relate to all levels of employees, and build and maintain successful relationships
