Human Resources Assistant

Location: Amherst, NY Status: Full-Time or Part-Time, Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm SUMMARY OF DUTIES Provides ongoing assistance to the recruitment function by assisting with the hiring and new employee onboarding processes.

Maintains the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) according to organizational needs.

Works directly with health insurance representatives to coordinate employee wellness initiatives.

Supports the Human Resources department and administrative staff with other tasks as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Provides ongoing support to the recruitment function by assisting with the hiring process for external candidates that is consistent with agency standards and applicable regulations.

Obtain professional and personal reference checks for candidates.

Responsible for working closely with the Recruitment Coordinator to conduct interviews, extend employment offers and coordinate candidate background checks, drug screens, physicals, PPDs, onboarding, virtual and in-person required trainings and new employee paperwork.

Assists with the administration of employee benefit plans and online enrollment.

Responsible for maintaining employee HRIS records and processing changes timely.

Communicates employee changes to applicable departments.

Process employment verification requests and drafts letters for current/former employees.

Prepares related correspondence and updates applicable statuses in the CBC database upon employee separations.

Generates HR reports and conducts HR audits per schedule and as needed.

Coordinate employee perks program.

Provides employees with support and resources when needed.

Participate in trainings and employee development.

Serves on and actively contributes to agency committees.

Provides coverage at the reception desk as needed.

Responsible for being on time to every scheduled work shift and recording hours worked accurately via Paylocity or timeclock punches.

Responsible for ensuring that confidentiality is strictly maintained as required by law and Agency policy.

Responsible for securing and protecting personal and agency related data by adhering to the Agencys computer security policies.

Responsible for other tasks as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

Complies with all agency policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Associates, Bachelors, or working towards a degree in Human Resources or a business related field preferred.

High proficiency with technology including HRIS software, Excel and Word.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Professional and ethical standards for customer service and work quality.

Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships across all organizational levels and functions.
