Accounting Clerk

SUMMARY: Processes financial data for use in maintaining accounting records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

Processes daily business transactions such as funds received and disbursed.

Processes new customer accounts and monitors status of existing customer accounts.

Maintains credit history and related files.

Balances and reconciles accounts as required.

Identifies and corrects errors.

Resolves discrepancies.

Prepares general journal entries.

Processes daily business transactions such as shipments to customers and receipts from vendors.

Processes new customer accounts and monitors status of existing customer accounts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Requires knowledge typically acquired through: Completion of an Associates degree from two-year college or university, Six months to three years related experience or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and procedures.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
