Job DescriptionALTA IT Services is staffing a 6-month contract for a Senior Web Editor to join a leading health insurance customer.

Senior Web EditorWashington, DC (currently 100% Remote, may require infrequent office visits in the future)6-Month ContractPay: $50-55/hr range Purpose:The Senior Web Editor responsibilities include but are not limited to: supporting the development of new content, content edits and new website sections on external-facing web/digital properties.

The role effectively drives corporate business strategy, goals, and priorities in partnership with the content strategist/information architect, other web specialist(s), UX/UI and the product team.The Sr Specialist must lead web content projects, keeping business stakeholders and managers/senior leaders informed of the progress.

In addition, there are day-to-day activities that include writing and editing copy for the web and rethinking site content and organization for usability enhancements.

This role works independently and serves as a subject matter expert to ensure quality of content for users.

Principal Accountabilities:50%Works with business stakeholders, the strategist/information architect, and others to support the development of quality site content that marries business strategy and goals with user needs.

Leads content driven projects and communicates and interacts with team and organizational stakeholders to understand needs, make recommendations, implement changes, and provide status updates.

Works closely with product team and contributes to projects in the development pipeline.

Ensures the highest quality standards for content across the site.

Makes recommendations for appropriate content, content organization and content stylization for optimal site user experience.

Contributes to improvements in findability and searchability through improved taxonomies, navigation labels and page titles.

25%Manages the organization and editing of content as required by business needs/goals and ensures proper web content styles/standards, writing style, grammar, etc., and search engine optimization guidelines are followed.

Writes new page content or introductory content as needed.

Effectively Prioritizes web content edits and project work and delivers content edits on time with exceptional quality and with consistency across the site.

Tests and validates websites are correctly updated in accordance with production standards, style guide standards and in-line with stakeholders requests, and that all content edits are made accurately.

Ensures that the sites content is compliant with current legal and branding regulations.

15%Develops new processes and oversees creation/maintenance of all Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents and standards for web content editing and production.

Assists strategist in creating and managing guidelines that ensure content is compliant with Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and monitors site for 508c.

Monitors web writing for consistency across pages and across websites with each web edit request.

Monitors for the consistency of meta data tagging across the site.

Completes project requirements documents which may include defining business, user, functional and non-functional requirements.

Follows implementation plans and ensures all key objectives are delivered on time and communicated effectively to the product team, stakeholders and other impacted teams.

10%On-boards new team members by training and educating them on the corporate processes, best-practices and style guidelines.

Trains new and existing team members on tools used by the team.

Represents the team as the SME in web content and content management.

Trains business unit stakeholders on best practices for content management and new enterprise content management practices.

Advocates for user
– and strategy-centered web content management practices.

Assists leadership in managing the job request tool by managing tool updates, troubleshooting with IT and running reporting.

Performs regular audits and evaluations of the web content and content standards.

Qualifications Bachelors degree in English or related field.

In lieu of a Bachelors degree, and additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

5 years experience with web editing, web content, web content management Ability to seek out and proactively engage stakeholders with recommendations and requirements for site improvements is necessary.

Individual must lead the change.

Ability to work independently to manage multiple projects while keeping stakeholders and content owners informed of progress and aware of any potential problems.

Ability to think globally and understand how content edits on one area of any particular web property may impact other areas of the site and/or related content.

Ability to communicate challenges or technical information in a non-technical manner to management and internal content/business owners and stakeholders.

Experience working in Content Management Systems.

Superior English and grammar skills and ability to follow a corporate style guide; experience in web content management, writing and editing.

Knowledge of HTML and CSS.

Knowledge in MS Office Suite.
