*Job no:* 511587*Work type:* Auxiliary*Location:* Northridge*Categories:* At-Will, Full Time*Major Duties*Functioning within a multidisciplinary research setting, the Research Specialist will lead research efforts into Autonomous Design and Manufacturing. In product design, efforts to consolidate design knowledge in knowledge graphs have resulted in robust graph representations of domain-specific semantic relationships. Engineering design knowledge graphs have been shown to be useful for concept generation and evaluation. However, there is an opportunity to expand on prior work towards later phases of the design process by extracting design knowledge from CAD models, to complement existing semantic networks. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary faculty members (e.g., computer science, anthropology, engineering, psychology, human health development, and business, legal). Lead and manage a team of multidisciplinary undergraduate and graduate students. Conduct ethnographic research and disseminate research work in relevant venues. Develop funding proposals (e.g., to NSF and DOD) to support research activities. Interface with Autodesk and JPL multidisciplinary team and other stakeholders (e.g., NASA, industry, DoD). *Qualifications** Ph.D. in engineering/computer science with a focus in knowledge graph, engineering design, machine learning/deep learning, digital twin, metal 3D printing, or other relevant field.* 0-2 years of relevant experience in a research environment* Experience with engineering and computer science* Strong written communication, especially as it relates to developing competitive grant proposals *Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities** Ability to work within highly interdisciplinary, technical settings (i.e., among experts within the engineering design and manufacturing community) *General Information*THE SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO PASS A THOROUGH DEPARTMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION.
