RISE Program Director University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: 36618 Salary: $4,600 – $11,183 monthly Position Description: The Resilience in your Student Experience (RISE) Program Director reports directly to the Executive Director of the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). The mission of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is to support undergraduate, graduate and professional school student development, empowerment and success through connection with dedicated diverse staff who provide mental health services that encourage Health, Healing, and Hope. CAPS strives to provide: 1. Short-term, high-quality culturally affirming mental health treatment including assessment, consultation and case management; group and individual therapy; and psychiatry services 2. Culturally responsive community mental health training and wellness education in collaboration with the Resilience in your Student Experience (RISE) Center 3. Training and professional development for mental health providers that emphasizes inclusive support and care for diverse clients 4. Connection to diverse community resources and referrals. The RISE Program serves as the prevention education, training and wellness satellite for Counseling and Psychological Services. The RISE Center is a student health resource on campus that provides Bruins with skills to be resilient through the daily practice of mental health. Its mission is to make every student Bruin Strong through education and practice in mindfulness, exercise, peer-to-peer support, yoga, self-help tools, apps and other resources that support mental health. The RISE Program Director position provides infrastructural support and provides prevention, education and outreach workshops for the RISE program and other defined prevention programs at CAPS. The RISE Program Director has full programmatic responsibility for the RISE programs in direct coordination and collaboration with CAPS. The director will sit as part of the CAPS broader leadership team The Role of The Program director will be to develop strategies and programs aimed at mental health resilience, well-being and suicide prevention education. The Program Director possesses a broad knowledge of University policies and procedures and has a strong professional, theoretical and philosophical foundation in college student affairs and mental health. Has specialized expertise and knowledge of the effects of mental illness on college success. Acts in a professional manner, consistent with UCLA True Bruin Values, and is directly responsible for supervision of staff and the education of students, staff and faculty. The Director oversees policies, projects, programs, and presentations on mental health management, resilience, stigma reduction, well-being and college success. The Director provides prevention education, training, and advocacy for issues of resilience and well-being, and other related topics. Direction of campus efforts includes, participation in and charge of campus-wide efforts to increase student resilience, and assisting with policy and program planning, development and administration to increase a culture of mental health and resilience. The Program Director interprets, monitors and analyzes information regarding policies and procedures, and provides consultative services regarding mental health and suicide prevention. The Director oversees the development and implementation of educational programs, workshops and presentations designed to target an increasingly diversified student population. Other duties include overseeing appropriate student referral to other services and building liaison relationships w/ campus and community partners, as well as student groups and student leaders focused on mental health.
