This is a Grant Funded position and will be evaluated each fiscal year to determine continuance.

Primary Responsibility / Summary

The Business Solutions Specialist is responsible for coordinating our Goodwill Southern California (GSC) employment opportunities to workforce development providers. The Business Solutions Specialist creates new relationships with business partners, America’s Job Centers of California, workforce development community-based organizations and providing exceptional service to all active and prospective partners and potential Ambassadors. The Business Solutions Specialist works directly with assigned recruitment partner to identify gaps in the applicant flow, leverages work force and career development providers to source perspective Ambassadors. Communicates regularly with retail management, employment center management and partner organizations to ensure that the GSC’s hiring needs are met.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Achieve growth by acquiring relationships with employment centers, organizations, or other partnerships that can help in the sourcing of future ambassadors
  2. Establish (and adjust when necessary) a list of targets and prospects using all available internal and external resources
  3. Set and attend face to face meetings with organizational leaders, partnership meetings and coalitions to ask appropriate questions that qualify partners and take advantage of opportunities to create value and meet GSC needs
  4. Manage the Business Engagement Committee and coordinate job fairs and recruitments with GSC employment centers and recruitment partners.
  5. Ensure that GSC needs are met by taking thorough requirements, prioritizing the requirements, and seeking feedback on our job placement performance.
  6. Maximize profitability by effectively establishing partnerships that result in hiring for all areas of GSC operations.
  7. Build and maintain relationships within partners by providing quality employment opportunities; proactively market resumes of ideal candidates from GSC programs and AJCC partners to fill GSC openings.
  8. Perform sales related activities including, but not limited to leading meetings and conducting presentations at partner sites.
  9. Communicate partnership knowledge to team members through meetings.
  10. Manage and develop business partnership with recruiter(s) by reinforcing recruiting fundamentals, such as sourcing for candidates, assessing skills and fostering relationships.
  11. Engage businesses in High-Growth sectors (HGS) and coordinate with AJCC’s to effectively pair engaged business with skilled participants.
  12. Conduct a Business Needs Assessment for all new businesses engaged.
  13. Promote On-the-Job (OJT) Trainings, Incumbent Worker Trainings and Customized Trainings to HGS businesses.
  14. Responsible for building an Employer Database in LaunchPad/internal tracking system and creating job orders and tracking all employer needs.
  15. Staying abreast of Labor Market Information/Trends and Employer Tax Credit information.
  16. Create a GSC Business Portfolio for marketing GSC Partner and Employer Services.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 3 years of recruiting, workforce development, or Business Services experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; possess abilities to work with all levels of employees.
  • Some experience working with diverse populations including those with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Team player.
  • Multi-tasker; well organized with consistent follow through.
  • Knowledge of ADA helpful.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Bi-lingual fluency (e.g., English/ASL, English/Spanish, etc.) and ability understand another culture as required by the program or local community highly desired.

  • 60 wpm, 10 key touch.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license and state-required auto insurance.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Free from alcohol and drug abuse.

Other Educational Skills & Abilities

  • Must have advanced knowledge proficiency of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

English Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
